Considering Brexit's been "done", there seems to be a *lot* of things that haven't

America's top trade negotiator has said the risk from Brexit to the Northern Ireland peace process remains a significant block to prospects of a free trade deal between the UK and USA.

US trade representative Katherine Tai's comments came during talks in Aberdeen with UK counterpart Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

The UK government is keen to get a US deal, to show post-Brexit progress.

The talks, due to continue on Tuesday in London, are informal.

Ambassador Tai was speaking after the UK government floated plans for an Act of Parliament that would effectively revoke the protocol agreed with the European Union, risking the return of border posts around Northern Ireland and a destabilisation of the Good Friday peace agreement...

If they don't stop pissing about this world-beating ™ trade deal is dead before it's started .

Can we say "I told you so" yet?

But put all that aside for a moment and grasp the full meaning of Rees-Mogg’s admission. He and his fellow Brexiters once looked forward to these border checks, seeing them not merely as a price worth paying for leaving the EU but as a genuine benefit. Britain would at last be free to set its own food standards, superior to the EU’s. And yet now the minister admits that putting up barriers just makes food more expensive for British consumers and risks bankrupting British farmers: precisely the act of self-harm remainers always said it would be.

Its doubtful any country will want to dispute this arrangement in WTO courts; Frictionless imports to a country that places controls on its exports.
