Four month leadership contest? That’s Benn v Healey stuff.

They’ve nothing better to do. Starmer will have to endure tedious grandstanding instead of constructive opposition but that’s not going to harm the government.

A punt on Nigel Huddleston is worth a couple of Quid whoever the fuck he is. Can’t be any worse than the others.

Nigel Huddleston is MP in one of the Worcestershire seats. Decent majority because opposition split 3 ways IIRC.

Apparently did several lower level ministerial jobs, and is their representative for youth. He's 54.

I'm trying to remember where I stored all those bottles of piss.

The ones from when I heard Kanye West was headlining Glastonbury.

Apparently, Jimmy Dimly has become the first Tory formally to declare he will run to be leader.

We go over live to Transylvania. I’ll go for Jenrick, he’s the white man who’s been the biggest cunt to refugees.

Looking at them as people, I think Cleverley, as dim as he is, is probably the most human, with Tugendhat running a poor second.

But, of course, the rump of the Conservative Party don't want human. They seem to want batshit insane shrieking fascist loons (white, for preference. But they'll take what they can get).

I could well see it being a run off between Badenoch and Cleverly. Stride will go early along with Suella. Tugenhat and Patel are not serious candidates so it will just be a question of whether Cleverly or Jenrik pick up votes as the other candidates drop out.

I wonder if Dorries will be rewriting her book yet again to take account of the latest leadership election.

Intrigued to discover that "Tory leadership election packs" are a thing.

A great opportunity for Mailwatchers to speculate about their contents.

I put a fiver on Jenrick when he was 16/1 just after election night.

I’m not really sure but if Dim Cleverly shouting that opposition to Rwandan scheme is racist is about the best they have they might as well take the next decade off.

Politest analysis is that Tugendhat is following Starmer’s strategy to power by indulging the core activists. He’d be better off setting out his stool, losing to the loons and biding his time.
