REMEMBER June 2024? When Britain was a paradise? When taxes were low, public services thriving, the armed forces roaring with power?

Back then, there was no deficit. Britain wasn’t in a penny of debt. NHS waiting lists were so low patients were getting hip replacements they neither needed nor requested. The ratio of police to public was roughly three to one, the same as teachers to pupils.

Our prisons were so empty their inmates’ chief problem was loneliness and the boats had been stopped, apart from fishermen bringing home record post-Brexit catches.

Then what happened? A catastrophic administrative error by the electorate ended in an accidental Labour landslide. And Starmergeddon.

Since 2024? Immigrants. Riots. Problems with Thames Water. A cost-of-living crisis such as the world has never seen. Jeremy Clarkson battling cancer.

A country hopelessly, desperately in hock to foreign powers. Prisons overflowing. Policemen as rarely seen as the Scottish capercaillie. School forced to close their doors, leaving children on the streets for the next six weeks.

I think TWA 'gets' that. I also remember it making a very unsuccessful (and brief) transition to television. You didn't need to waste time watching it, you just read the website for that week.

If you hated yourself, you could always read the website in the voices of Nish Kumar and Rachel Parris to recreate the experience.

Keir Starmer has decided to stand down as MP for Hollborn & St Pancras to work on international affairs and his work on combatting violence against women & girls. Can't say I blame him - he's probably only just recovered from having the last knife removed from his back. Plus I'm guessing he doesn't fancy seeing Burnham getting credit for stuff that could, and probably should have, been due to him.

Without Keir's dogged prosecution skills employed when LOTO, the wretched Boris Johnson might still be with us. The nation should be forever greatful to him for that alone.

The public were always wanging on about too many professional politicians but then compalined when they got a PM with a career and hinterlands outside Westminster. The public are full of shite.
