Fair point; maybe more a case of Trump putting a deal to the Saudi’s to exert influence in the region, rather than provide sanctuary……however those World Cup football stadiums don’t build themselves

Andrew Neil wishes to make it clear he was never on the Russian front and has always been a staunch anti-populist advocate of liberal internationalism.

Hang on a second. Trump referring to Zelenskyy as a hated, dictatorial kleptomanic was meant as an insult?

Well in never...

Even by the standards Trump has set himself previously, his comments on Zelensky demonstrates a stunning level of projection.

Annoyingly can't find it now, but saw a good tweet on BlueSky to the effect of 'we know Trump doesn't really think Zelensky is a dictator, cos he's not grovelling in front of him like does with the rest.'

I have come to the view that what you always have to remember about Donald Trump is that everything- everything that he says or does is done with one thing in mind (and this is without exception) : will this benefit Donald J. Trump? He has lived his entire life on that basis.

His entire campaign to win re-election was motivated by it - the principal motivator for Trump was the guarantee that making it back to the White House would give him immunity from being (rightly) sent to jail. Go back to 2020, and his incitement to his supporters to violent insurrection and refusal to accept the result of a democratic election that he lost were similarly driven.

Now that he is back in The White House, it is continuing. Forcibly purchasing Greenland ? Taking “back” the Panama Canal? Canada as the 51st state of the USA? Ethnically cleansing the Gaza Strip and turning it into a middle eastern casino/ “Riviera” resort ? Forcing Ukraine to accept a “peace settlement” that concedes everything to Vladimir Putin and loses the territory that the Ukrainians have fought tooth and nail against Russian aggression ? Blatantly sucking up to a hideous Russian dictator, arguably the worst since Stalin?

“Will it benefit Donald Trump ?” is the common thread through it all. Trump still talks in terms of doing “deals”. But it’s deals that will benefit and personally enrich Donald Trump that are the ones he is really interested in. Lucrative Oil & Gas contracts in Canada and/or Greenland (“drill, baby, drill”). Immensely profitable real estate development opportunities in the Gaza “Riviera” . Rare earth mineral mining prospects in a new Russian Ukraine. Trump, or Trump’s associates and grotesquely avaricious family, could stand to benefit hugely from all of these opportunities should this Trump administration succeed in engineering any or all of these prospects. Trump thinks he can do it. The presidency gives him the chance, and the power, and you would be foolish to count on the US constitution preventing him from going on with this beyond 2029 (we may have to rely on possibly imminent mortality of this 78 year old).

It isn’t “ America First” , it’s “Trump First”. And he is doing it all in plain sight. The Jimmy Savile of this American century. He doesn't care what outrage he provokes - all that matters is the power, and the spoils for Trump personally.

Christ, it ‘s depressing.

That second amendment moment has arrived.
And what are they doing?
Fuck all.

Brave as seal team six when they're behind a keyboard, or shooting up a classroom.
Terrified little rabbits when their country is being stolen from under their feet.

You're right of course, this exactly the justification used for The 2nd, but of course the cosplay warriors don't see it that way, they want to shoot blacks and liberals.

I've been pondering where the military's loyalties stand - they swear an oath to defend the Constitution which is now blatantly under attack from their CinC. Which side are you on boys (and girls)?

I do wonder if, far from Putin having some hold over Trump, the orange cunt actually admires him in a similar way to Jezza. Both see Putin as a populist thorn in the side of the Establishment, which both think is represented by the other.

Some people are saying that Trump’s driving motivation is that he wants to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Surely that’s utter bollocks ?

It can be both. The man is deluded and probably rigid with fear of death.

I think it really pisses off Trump that Obama has got a Nobel peace prize but he hasn't.

Yesterday I spent two hours stuck at Motherwell station waiting for a delayed train fortunately I was kept entertained for most of that time by an American businessman talking to all his mates very loudly on his fault. This bloke clearly wasn't thick because he ran his own tec company but from what he was saying he clearly thought that Trump and Musk were doing a good job. The bit that really made me laugh was when he was talking about the DOGE. He was telling his mate that the fact that Musk didn't know where a lot of the money was going to was clear proof that the money was going crooks. This argument seems pretty stupid. The reason that Musk doesn't know where a lot of the money has gone because he has sacked most of the people who could actually tell him where the money has gone. It is a bit like me buying a pub tomorrow sacking all the staff on the spot and then trying to work out what costs the pub has every week and where all the money goes.

A lot of people seem convinced that the only way to grasp life is to have it put in front of them, otherwise it's all trickery.

Curiously, they never apply this to their heroes, who do all their idiocy entirely without actual, real transparency.

My latest pondering; Zelensky says “no”, how will Trump and Vlad be able to react, Russia has limited resources to maintain an offensive, and if they do recommence proves he doesn’t want peace, and Trump simply looks stupid.

In that scenario it's Zelensky's fault for saying no.

Sacked the senior army commander for "Generaling while Black" then appoints a less qualified white successor.
