Jess Barnard, a former chair of Young Labour and a member of Labour’s NEC, said: “Seems an appropriate time to reiterate MPs should not be landlords, and landlords should not be Labour MPs.”
Why is this being quoted as serious commentary? Private rental has always existed, and there's no way it can't exist. This is Wolfie Smith standard stuff.

Did Rushanara evict or did she just terminate a lease in a normal way?
That's nothing.

"Labour MPs shouldn't be landlords."

I can remember when Labour members shouldn't buy their council houses.

Paying mortgages on expenses has been a longstanding MP's perk. Which may explain why they're not as stern about curbing house price inflation as they are with every other commodity.

She didn't evict them, did she?

They'll go for shit like this because it's easier than policy. As it happens, Rushanara became an MP at 35. Which is younger than Corbyn,

This Government has tried to get a lot more houses built, in fairness. Others have tried (Cameron, Johnson) but got buried under a pile of shit by their own side. I'm encouraged by the Government taking the whip of Chris Hinchcliff (who is like having the CPRE in Parliament), hope that they haven't conceded too much.

He's not pro-Corbyn his politics are a hodgepodge, pro-working class, very big on welfare but also supportive of Brexit and keen to get more working-class MPs into Parliament. His real name is David Littlefair.
