The FT article quotes a Green Party source saying he should cut back on his use of social media and he responds by going out of his way to prove it.

The article contains yet another case of him lying on his CV.

The FT found a further misleading claim.

In 2019, during his campaign to become the Greens’ mayoral candidate, he said he had worked as a spokesperson for Axe the Housing Act, a campaign group. When the FT queried this, his spokesperson confirmed that he was not an official spokesperson, and had only talked at events hosted by the group.

Such incidents have led to questions about whether Polanski has shape-shifted — and sometimes lied — in his mission to change the British left.

His supporters contend that he is an unvarnished and authentic communicator, and willing to do what many politicians refuse to do — apologise when he is wrong.

Ben Ansell, a politics professor at Oxford university, said Polanski had harnessed social media to move from outsider to a starring role.

“These characters can now pop up anywhere on the political spectrum and they can outflank previously existing populist figures, including [former Labour leader] Jeremy Corbyn,” he added.

"...his supporters contend blah blah blah"

Would these be the same swivel-eyed morons who contended that allotment Jesus was Mr Perfect and a political super-god?

I think we can discount what they have to say.

What is the difference between Zack talking about the FT and Farage talking about the BBC? It's the same "they're corrupt and the enemy" shit if they offer critical coverage.

He gets an incredibly easy time, despite all this "they're all after me" stuff. There's no way he'd get through an old style long form political interview that the likes of Kinnock and Major went through regularly.

Was he even on the podium at that Axe The Tax event, I wonder? Why do I think he might have spoken from the floor, had some applause and appointed himself a spokesperson? Nice straight talking there, the way they try and make out "official" (or not) is a minor detail.

Apparently he's the most active party leader on social media.

Next to Trump, one supposes.

Even Farage got himself referred to the standards commissioner; what's happened to Polanski over his council tax?

As Guardian BTL would say: "tell me you don't understand living on a boat without saying you don't understand living on a boat" or some shit like that.

The Financial Times exists to protect power and wealth.

Has Zack ever read the FT? If the Greens promoted some radical economic policies that stood up to scrutiny, it would be one of the few papers to give them a fair hearing. Livingstone and McDonnel both had a sympathetic relationship with the FT.

I think Plankski's problem with the FT is the FT still employs a few people who care about journalism, and isn't in the habit of publishing puff-pieces blowing smoke up Plankski's arse.

It's hard to project the 'perfect answer to everything' image when proper journalists are scrutinising your drivel.

The FT, in cause of its readership, maintains a fairly balanced and unbiased reportage. After all, if you are looking for news of how political trends may affect your decisions - often worth many millions - you don't want partisan opinion (I see you, Viner) you want it straight.

News from Southwark.

I think I can see where this is going to end up already. The Greens keep telling the Government to "just give us the money,". I hope they didn't campaign on the basis of actually delivering all these social homes... Funded by a wealth tax and something cooked up by Richard Murphy.

God, I stand this arsehole. Most of us might think there was a youth unemployment crisis and worry if we're making it worse by pricing 18 year olds out of work with what is a very high minimum wage by international standards. I'm not sure I agree, since (as I found out yesterday) employers don't have to pay NI on these workers. But it's not a mad, corrupt thing to believe.

So what's the considered response of the leader of the Green Party? Na na, Tony Blair.

There's talk of the Greens and Lib Dems co-running Birmingham with help from the indies. Their leaders will take six months at a time (at least the LDs have got Roger Hamer, who's a good councillor). We await developments.

Greens and Tories are trying to stop this. Didn't know Sadiq could force it through. Hope he does.

If we'd had this at the turn of the last century Alan A. Jackson wouldn't have had anything to write a book* about.

*Semi-detached London. Bit of a hard book to find these days but well worth a read.

Even with the Independents on board, they’ll still be running a minority administration. As for the alternating leadership, well I’m skeptical, to put it mildly. Guess we’ll need to see how it pans out.

We should never have gone from one third elections 3 in 4 years to all up elections every 4 years .

I read the replies.

What a load of meconium.

The problem of course being that you can't have a local general election if a minority administration fails.

Complaint in to the standards people at the London Assembly. Assume that it'll just say he didn't know, which he didn't.
