I totally agree that the Channel should pays its own fines, but the fact they are clearly getting rattled by OFCOM is potentially a good thing. I did think it was funny that a station that thrives on stoking up outrage didn't have its own defibrillator.

From what I’ve seen of Talk TV they do try to follow Ofcom guidelines with a real news service and flagging up the polemics. What’s the difference between GBN and RT?

GBN seems to be a cross between the Express under Desmond*, and a strip club**.
*A few big names as columnists or presenters, everything else on a shoestring.
**"We provide the venue, after that you're on your own".

Believe me, I'm not defending Steyn but GBNews are responsible for putting all these headbanging right-wing twats on the air in the first place so they should be on the hook for any comeback from the bile they produce.
Even for a libertarian Steyn is right to walk, don’t they have editors at Gbeebies? I’ve never heard of this before (an employee picking up the tab for a station fine).
Changed my mind about this, the deal offered to Steyn is very amusing; Carry on saying what you like as long you pick up the tab for the fines you’re responsible for. That’s what libertarians are all about so why wouldn’t he?

It sounds like those barbers shops where hairdressers can rent a chair by the hour.

They're hoping for social media levels of immunity.
But, your honour, it was he who said the thing, we merely broadcast it to an audience of millions (hundreds - Ed.)

Maybe that's the future of broadcasting - you make the show, we broadcast it and split the advertising revenue.

If Steyn had broadcast his noxious views once (and then been disciplined), GBeebies could claim that he was "on a frolic of their own", which is the standard legal defence to vicarious liability. But my understanding is that Steyn has been spewing his batshit bile for months, so I fail to see how GBeebies can deny knowledge and therefore liability.

Not 100% sure if this is correct, but I read elsewhere that Steyn's show on KGBN was a co-production between the channel and Steyn's own production company. While the broadcaster has to shoulder some of the blame for multiple counts of the Ofcom code being breached, their co-producers should have to carry some of the can as well IMO in this regard.

GB News seem to be slowly getting rid of loose cannons like Steyn and Grimes and bringing in the likes of Portillo, Pierce and Tominey who are all nasty right wingers but who are shrewd enough to avoid getting too many OFCOM complaints.

Which makes me wonder what audience they're aiming for. There's already enough centre-right broadcasters as it is.

Danger of a Labour/SNP COALITION FROM HELL, eh ?
They truly are beginning to get very, very desperate if they’re re-treading that old shite.

This is an interesting line from the article.
But, unlike Thatcher, she isn’t pursuing the destruction of women’s rights for ideological reasons, but rather to enhance her own reputation on the international stage.
Is Dan really suggesting that Thatcher destroyed women's rights?

Loud and clear message for GBNews’s Scottish viewers; Vote Labour.
There was a Spectator article that mentioned some Tory MPs would rather see a small Labour majority than a hung parliament. Labour would forget all about electoral reform and there is no alternative system to FPTP that works for the Tory nutters. The Conservatives would of course just reinvent themselves as an alleged centre right party and send a ministerial limo around to Ed Davey’s house.

England: Vote Tory to preserve .....
Scotland: Vote Labour to stop Salmond / Sturgeon
The Sun's pre-election strategy for several elections now.
No reason why the Gbeebies would treat their viewers with any greater respect.

Slow ugliness of a creep. Is this his repost to being called out for his sinister antisemitic diatribes? Some EDL whataboutery about the minicab rape gangs. Deeply unpleasant man.
