Kelvin Mackenzie was on GBNews accusing Labour of taxing people to death. The basic rate of income tax is now 20% when his all time hero Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister the basic rate of income tax was 30% . Kelvin is not one to let mere facts get in the way of a good rant.

And that's THE TRUTH.

The Alan Partridge of the Right has been having quite the run lately. I don't recall anyone saying "If your social circle doesn't include people who voted for Jeremy Corbyn, you're doing it wrong"?

Another of his was. "Convince me the ECHR isn't just a bunch of people pushing leftist liberalism". Perhaps it would be useful for him to think of Jeremy Corbyn again. The ECHR is a break on the wildest Corbynite fantasies of appropriating private property. These people on the Right can't imagine the boot being on the other foot at all. I don't mean what Rachel Reeves to her credit has done on progressive taxes, I mean somebody properly doing to them what they want to do to us.

I've seen a few acquaintances express Reform opinions. In almost every case, they were challenged, and in some cases we got through to them that the Reform narrative is crap.

A few were harder to reach. I cut them off, because it generally confirmed what I suspected already and it saves time. It also avoids any arguments before severing the connection.

Yeah, these kids (who get school results) are a big downgrade on... literally murderers.

And FFS, these kids are effectively bilingual, just like Welsh speakers. The implication that they're all "me no speak English" is dogshit.

Kids whose first language isn't English very likely have to help their parents in every aspect of life. In other words they're the exact opposite of the spoilt, entitled brats Tommy's followers moan about.

This also means they are functional in two languages.
That's good isn't it.

The Lotus Eaters podcast are now discussing the coming civil war.

Bunch of fannies are welcome to try their luck down my neighbourhood.

Quite probably more. In the days of East African Asian immigration seven wasn't uncommon.

My former next door neighbor, born in Bangladesh, grew up in London, could speak Urdu and Hindi too.

Tommy's been very slow to notice, it's 15 years since David Cameron looked like that.

Cut and paste slogan of the week is:
Civil war in the UK is now inevitable.

Spotted in the wild three times this morning: A retired Colonel (why spoil a good stereotype), a "historian" and a self-styled "Journalist".

The "historian" in question doesn't happen to have a YT presence, by any chance?

The retired colonels always come across like the last action they saw was in 70s Belfast. Most forces (or ex-forces) people - regardless of rank - come across as quite chilled, reasonable people. TA types on the other hand...

When you've got schools full of bilingual kids who get good results, the only rational response is war.

They do tend to use the same phrases regularly - "fighting age men" is another. It's almost as if they're being told what to write.

A VJ-day recollection:

When my Grandad returned form Burma he had picked up Asante and Punjabi to go with his native English and Dutch.
Working as a postman in Ilford, the Punjabi proved handy in socialising with new colleagues.

He called it "meeting people half way".
Tommeh, who I hazard never faced an angry Jap bunker would characterise it as "Surrender".

I didn't bother checking.
It wasn't a familiar name, and the "historian" had an odd taste in fellow researchers.
The "historian" in question doesn't happen to have a YT presence, by any chance?
