I didn't have this one on my list. Then again, I hadn't accounted for Nick Timothy.

I thought an English Parliament was something most English people couldn't be bothered with, but never mind.

Elites? Who does the grammar school attending, university educated former chief of staff to the highest office in the land, who fell into a very well paid job at a broadsheet despite being uniformly considered utterly terrible at his previous role, have in mind?

Oh yes, people who don't agree with him. Still, I suppose they are 'elite' compared to him if measured on scales that assess competence, lack of idiocy and generally not being utterly woeful.

Hardly our fault that the right appoints from a bottomless pool of inbred "feelers".

Has Nick Timothy ever shown any interest in an English Parliament before? Did he hate England before?

He has in the sense he wanted to be a Tory MP at the last election, but guess what? He failed to get picked.

I'm reminded of a born again chap I used to occasionally joust with when of a mind to amuse myself. He characterised my preference for empiricism and logic as "just snobbery. Intellectual snobbery".

Much like these folks, he harboured the idea that the reason some people tried to be clever was the hidden belief that "we" knew "they" were right all along, and it was all posturing because we couldn't accept our lot. Elitist Indeed.
