I think if I was going bet on the favourite of Gullis, Benton or Anderson to go it would be Benton. I just can’t see him being returned where Stoke wouldn’t surprise me and you have those Indies in Ashford.

Though with the other Stoke MP standing down I think it’s probably likely all three will go, maybe Ashford not to Labour mind.

If I was an MP for run down Blackpool I would be pushing for the gambling law relaxation that Brown put the kibosh on. It could turn Blackpool and some other moribund resorts into Las Vegas and Atlantic City type entertainment behemoths. In which case you should be giving parts of gambling industry, that coincide with your constituency interests, a shout for free.

They didn’t lack vision and flair as to where to stash their ill gotten gains. What did we get from the Brinks Matt robbers? Office blocks in Docklands. That’s America.

Vegas is now smooth running corporate business so could they transplant the model to transform Blackpool and other moribund seaside places? It’ll be a Robbie Williams residency instead of Elvis or Sinatra so not necessarily.

Vegas took years to turn a profit. Lansky invested in Cuba, and didn't see Castro coming until it was almost too late. He was still a very rich man, but he lost colossal amounts there.

I'd personally say that massive casinos are the last thing Blackpool needs. Or at least its people.
