The writ has now been moved (by Labour) for the by-election . It should take place on Thursday 26 February.
Should be plenty to talk about in this new thread. Fill yer boots.

I like the idea of Keir having no problem choosing someone who is rival leadership material just to piss off Andy Burnham even more.

Not at all sure that Miliband (D) is interested any more.

He's currently earning over USD1Mpa as the CEO of the International Rescue Committee. Another one who's probably made far more money as a former MP and nearly-man than he ever would've done if he'd stayed in politics.

Hopefully he'll go down with the locals like a pint of warm diarrhoea.

I suspect he might enjoy being Gregged, particularly if you use a thesaurus. Sideways.

Interesting. Reform has seemingly decided to give it the full cunt.

Been listening to pundits explain how 'respected' former ministers like Nadhim Zahawi will bring credibilty to Reform. So they stand a creepy ethno-nationalist in a key by-election.

"Non White People of Gorton and Denton: the Reform Candidate Hates You". Get it on the side of a bus.

Seems like a bad choice. Better to stick up someone who hasn't said too much, and can run on controlling immigration.
Nice test for Zack here. Is he going to carry on pretending Labour and Reform are the same? Obviously, he's entitled to try and win as much as anyone else, but he's surely got to drop this bullshit at some point.

If you have a white parent from overseas you're not English, either.

He thinks he's been clever by saying that only some non-white Britons aren't British. Andrew Brons said that Kelly Holmes wasn't properly British, so he's avoided that. (This was a particularly jarring observation because she was not just a very well liked athlete, but ex-British Army).
But quickly it becomes a nonsense. I think he tried to make out that the Peterborough attacker wasn't properly British, on the grounds that he committed a terrible crime. So is Jake Davison (who shot 5 people in Plymouth) British? What's the difference? Was Harold Shipman British?

Cold indicates you've "given it a few minutes" - (tm) Sid James.
