Yes, I think Sunak did just make it up. Being charitable, though, it might not have been unreasonable for him to infer that Chaz's cancer has been diagnosed early doors, given that it was only discovered accidentally during treatment for an unrelated prostate problem. I dare say he's just trying to look on the bright side.

In fairness, he's expected to say something. Although he could have kept to "Sad news, best wishes".
