It does have me wondering how much Tory Voter Apathy is, in fact, open support for the outgoing lunatic and pervert, because they were ideologically purer (and also, in one case, whiter).

You tell em, Warren

Just think how different the result might have been if the government was being led by actual Conservatives instead of a bunch of Neo-socialists.
Warren has a valid point about the lack of Conservatives in the Conservative Party, but I think he may be a little off-target with who he thinks are in charge there.

I am bewildered by the comments saying this isn’t a conservative government. It is *absolutely* a conservative government:
1. It has let public services go to ruin
2. It is heartless and callous
3. Its members take any and every opportunity to line their pockets
4. It doesn’t achieve anything other than to serve the interests of its donors
5. Talent plays a very distant second fiddle to what school you went to, who your parents were and so on.
6. It is full of cheating, backstabbing bastards

How is that not Tory through and through? Entitled, arrogant, inept. And undone by their own actions but wholly incapable of accepting any responsibility.

It's not Conservative because it's not everyone for themselves, we're not chucking the Wogs and Poles out, we're not shooting out the small boats and lazy scrotes get free health care and benefits.

I think that's it?

Basically, *real* Conservatives subscribe to Hayek and Rand.

It's not conservative, according to the CH users, because they're cottoning on to how little of a shit the core of the party give about them.

They thought they were in the club. They're allowed on the grounds, but not in the goodie room.

Something from CH that probably won't sit well with the nutters.
Having been involved in canvassing in Tamworth, aside from the obvious disgust with the conduct of Pincher, the complaints I heard were overwhelming about the lies and incompetence of Johnson and Truss, the failure to deliver adaequ public services and, above all, the struggle to survive week by week that is not a product of inflation but a pre-existing issue to do with lack of growth, wage stagnation and taxation. People are also feeling much bolder about describing Brexit as a mistake. One man told me that we should "grow up and stop exaggerating gender stuff".

No-one mentioned immigration or net zero to me. That's not to say it wasn't raised. Few felt any love for Rishi.

I see a lot of posters here demanding more action on immigration and a move to cutting the State. I think that Starmer would welcome that. Much as many here would like it to be, the United Kingdom electorate are not right wing to the extent that some seem to hope and now that the economic pain, waiting lists and deteroting infrastructure is affecting not just our traditional scapegoats.

My own feeling is that 2024 is lost and that a lurch further right will lose 2029 too.

The issue is not traditional Conservative policy. The issues are gross incompetence amongst the current parliamentary party, a series of poor economic decisions (not least Brexit), the foolishness of giving power to Johnson and simple longevity in power.

Has Nadine X’d that if they hadn’t treated her so unfairly none of this would have happened, because that’s about all they’ve got left

Spoonman wrote: Fri Oct 20, 2023 9:36 am I'll be waiting to hear later from Matt Goodwin, Owen Jones, Stats for lefties and the dime-a-dozen dunderheads of KGB tell us how the results of the Mid-Bedfordshire & Tamworth by elections are actually bad news for Kier Starmer.
The lines du jour are as follows:

1. Labour won with only 33-ish% of the vote - this is a sign of how bad FPTP is
2. The Lib Dems took away Tory votes, so it’s their win really
3. It’s all anti-Tory because people hate them and no one actually *wants* Labour
4. People are only voting Labour because they’re indistinguishable from the Tories
5. There is no appetite for Kier Starmer as PM

You’ll note that at least 2 of these are mutually exclusive, yet I’ve seen a few accounts use them *in the same post*
It says something about their lack of political nous that they've missed the obvious excuses: the standard of the Tory incumbents - a sex pest and a drunken, absentee imbecile; and the quality of the replacement candidates, a vile oaf and an apparently nice chap but happens to be black and has a funny name.
If it was my desire to diminish Labour's achievement, those are the angles I'd go with.

Yebbut:
1. Some of them is brown.
2. They suspect that one with the Scottish name isn't really a white lady doing blackface.
3. Their shell companies are paying more tax than they would wish.
4. Tenant's Rights, they'll be singing the Red Flag and building Gulags next!!
5. Woke police, teachers, civil servants, RAF, librarians.
