Thanks very much all, just off in a minute to see (temporarily) the cataract man. It's not a biggie, everyone who has had it done tells me, just scary in a Chien Andalue sort of way.

It's my photographing eye so I'm looking forward to clearer vision.

Long live the NHS!

I friend of mine had both eyes done - not at the same time - and said it was a routine, relaxed procedure. She's delighted that she got it done.

Still - hope it goes well.

Quite an amusing "guide" to Un Chien Andalou here :

That's us sorted for the next fancy dress party, me and Malcolm doubling up as Admiral Lord Nelson...

I had one done three years ago; in and out in a couple of hours. It took me a few days to get over it, then a year later my 87 year old mother didn't bother telling me she was having it done until she got home.

Yup.
Not scary, certainly not painful, NHS are magnificent.

Back in a couple of months for the other one.

I'm already getting some focussed vision in that eye.

It's quite amazing.
I have no discomfort beyond a slight feeling that I have something in my eye.
My vision has returned in that eye to a large extent, though I can't yet focus close up. I was warned I would need reading glasses for that.
At distance I am already as good with the new eye as my old left eye, which had the weaker vision, and it's not 24 hours yet.
Colours are a lot brighter, I'd say more than 1 f-stop better already.

Roll on...

As a friend of mine said, it's like your eyes have been spring cleaned. Everything seems sharper and in better focus.

How are the patients today?

Thank you for asking.
Me: Eye is grand. No problems at all, consultation arranged. Diabetes - consultant very pleased. Joints - ah feck. Walking with a stick when I can walk at all.

Son's partner: seems to be over the worst, temperature down, cough gone. Christmas rearranged for December 29th.

Aye, thanks for asking, Lambo.

My upper right quarter is still mighty sore but my GP is a star. You can negotiate pain-relief with her as long as you don't take the obvious Michael. This is a Good Thing.
