Daily Mail launches new weekly talk show ‘The Reaction.
Recorded in the Daily Mail’s new state-of-the-art studios in its West London offices, the talk show will premiere at 5pm on Wednesday 10 January 2024. It will be broadcast at the same time every week on the Daily Mail’s YouTube channel.

A couple of columnists interview several talking heads over whether they strongly agree with the Mail's line on the big issues, or do they vehemently agree with them.

Nope, never been done before.

There are at least two existing Weirdo-Gammon TV channels already turning out that sort of pish, are there not ?

That has all the hallmarks of The S*n's online radio show with John Gaunt a few years ago that barely lasted for a few weeks.

The problem (at least on this side of the Atlantic) is with hosting a politically partisan talk show is that unless you actually get people across the political spectrum to participate in said shows, all you're doing is creating an echo chamber that only attracts a very limited audience, and with that an audience that isn't a big target for most advertisers. Exhibit A: KGBN & Exhibit B: Talk TV. Exhibit C in Talk Radio has had some success better than its TV counterparts, but it's still hit a glass ceiling for the time being at least.

I think James O’Brien on LBC had successfully cracked this problem, despite the criticisms still lobbed at him by the Gammon. During the Brexit interregnum , between the referendum result and actually departing the EU, he regularly used to get total fuckwits phoning in whose “arguments” he would proceed absolutely to demolish. Now, (alas), he doesn’t get so many wankers ringing in, though he does maintain “Idiot’s Corner” for the fuckwit text messages he still gets.
