A bit of light relief now. What could have been a genuinely interesting insight into the planning of a major public event turns into a load of Ruritanian bollocks in which elite soldiers on secret missions are urgently recalled for the most crucial and perilous assignment of their lives: walking slowly in thigh-high boots.

Totally normal fucking country.
And it was all a total surprise, because no-one expected a woman in her nineties to die and plans for her funeral hadn't been in existence for decades.

Hold the front page! Building sites are ugly...

Drone footage taken from points on Britain's faltering High Speed Rail 2 project has revealed the enormous scars ripped into the countryside across the route with as ministers due to make a decision on the northern leg this week.

Dear Daily Fail, it is very good of you to publish articles highlighting the damage to the countryside being done by the as yet incomplete HS2 construction project.

Will you also be publishing articles about the "enormous scars ripped into the countryside" by previously completed major transport infrastructure, like the Icknield Way, or the Grand Union Canal, for instance?

Real men drive cars, lorries and vans with massive engines pumping out huge clouds of black soot and noxious gases. This poncey HS2 rail malarkey is just another facet of the war on the humble, hard done to motorist.

Various right wing phuq wits like Toby (i like them) Young and Quentin Letts are struggling to get their heads around how Marcus Rashford can drive an expensive car while campaigning to alleviate poverty.

Rashford campaigns against poverty because he experienced poverty when he was growing up. He has invested a lot of time and money to help people living in poverty but right wing phuq wits will still try to belittle his achievements.

Working-class Tory - bravely going against what's expected of them.
Rich social campaigner - hypocritical champagne socialist.
Say a rich man should pay his fair share of tax - politics of envy.
Call a rich social campaigner a hypocritical champagne socialist - plain speaking.

I quite enjoyed the Twitter spat today between Giles Coren and the Mail's Richard Eden. Apparently it was all sparked by Eden writing a story about Coren parking his car in a disabled parking space near his home. It actually appears that it was actually his wife who parked the car in the space and Eden admitted that the source of the story was a local community forum. Journalism at its finest.

I think the only time I've seen him demonstrate any sort of relatability was when he was whining about having to do a speech at his sister's wedding, in front of most of the country's leading comedians and comedy writers. Then I thought "No, it's Giles fucking Coren, he'll probably by the end have turned this into a big thing about how he's better and funnier than them all", and you know what? I was right.

I wonder where both he and his sister would have got in life if they weren't nepo babies.

Coren is infuriating because he can be clever, witty, and even endearing (his shows with Sue Perkins where they lived various lifestyles with usually awful results due to ineptitude and often being pissed being an excellent example). But he seems to have just decided it’s a lot quicker and easier to be a tedious Clarkson-esque wanker.

Have they found Noah's Ark? According to legend, it washed up on Mount Ararat. According to another legend, the Turkish tourist board pays handsomely for any old shit that gets the punters in.

Top line of the article:
However, Dr Andrew Snelling, a young Earth creationist with a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, had previously said that Mount Ararat could not be the ark's location because the mountain did not form until after the flood waters receded.

Although considered a historical event, most scholars and archaeologists do not believe in literally interpreting the Ark story.
Oh yes, and the biblical background is inaccurate (for a given value of accuracy). Very much the kiddies version of the story.

"'Ere, Doris, it says 'ere in the Mail that they found Noah's Ark."
"Really dear, that's nice. More tea?"

They fail to explain which faculty awarded Dr Snelling's doctorate.

Could it be one of those that they deride as "Woke Mickey Mouse nonsense"?

Geology.
Dissertation: "A Geochemical Study of the Koongarra Uranium Deposit, Northern Territory, Australia"

Fucking hell. You cannot talk about uranium without acknowledging the long earth timeline. You just can't.

Or for that matter, geology.

And also looked after the sheep dip. (Apols. Pythons).
