Government knew repayment demands left carers poorer

Imagine voting for them.

They're going after 134,000 people for overpayments totalling £250m. Source

Unpaid carers save the Government £162bn per year. Roughly half of what they actually pay to those who claim. Source

They are saving 648 x what they are bullying people for. Not to mention the earnings that took carers over the threshold would almost certainly have gone straight back into the UK economy. And not some offshore account in a tax dodging scheme used by the bullies themselves.

This is where the Tories are now on Higher Education- not just the Braverman wing either, it's the leadership and virtually every MP apart from the Education Secretary. Universities staying open with one course? It doesn't matter how valuable the course is- if the government caps fees and reduces the number of foreign students, it's not viable.

Again, absolute clownery.

Universities are propped up by foreign students because that's how the government wanted them to operate, with UK fee income capped below cost. As someone pointed out BTL, you can almost hear the readio interviews from here. "Should Teesside University be closing departments? We speak to local MP, Simon Clarke, who studied at University College, Oxford".

Another of the formerly brighter ones here. The fact he's spouting this rubbish surely has nothing to do with him being a Tory candidate at the next election (in Bicester and Woodstock, where he might be vulnerable to tactical voting).

Brave effort by Rupes, I'll give him that. But I think "dreadful Labour haven't included running costs for scanners" might not cut in when his lot promised 40 hospitals and and a care service without any funding,

Even growing up around Cambridge, I don’t remember meeting many university students who were hairy lefty activists.
It’s really inconvenient for their narrative that the Conservative Party won among graduates up to and including the 2015 General Election.

And then something radically changed in the 2017 General Election https://x.com/bradwellcommon/status/179 ... Dkr8MiQKBg

If venture capital can't wet its beak, the usual suspects will consider it a loss.

Ah, 'political contests'. But not Palestine (or, indeed, Israel) right? Cos that has nothing to do with political contests.

Political, but not human rights, right?

Political, but not, uh, the political?

Also, Miriam Cates... If you don't have any 'objectionable' symbology at work, you have what? The natural state of the cosmos? Really?

Wrights patriotically took Johnson to the cleaners with their crappy bespoke Routemasters that could have been bought in the open market for less than half the cost to the tax payer.
Although Wright has secured a zero emission bus order with Arriva for 87 vehicles in London without any special favours from the mayor. You win some, lose some that’s how business works.

I am shocked I tell you. Both shocked and appalled.

John Woodcock – now known as Lord Walney – states in a new Government commissioned review of protest groups that “Defence companies and energy providers that are vital to local economies, national security and resilience are being particularly targeted by extreme protest groups” adding that “they are fringe groups with few supporters yet are causing significant damage. “Far too little is in place to support businesses and industries that are impacted by disruption or targeted by extreme activists blocking their premises and causing criminal damage.”
But why would he…?
As reported by Byline Times last week, Woodcock’s own House of Lords register interest declarations reveals that, among other roles, Lord Walney is:

Paid chair of the Purpose Defence Coalition, members of which include Leonardo, one of the world’s largest arms manufacturers, with “extensive links” to Israel’s military. Leonardo has been targeted by Palestine Action, which is mentioned over 100 times in the report
Paid adviser to lobbyists Rud Pederson, clients of which include the oil and gas giant, Glencore.
Paid adviser to the Purpose Business Coalition, members of which include fossil fuel giant BP.
Sigh.
