Again, from the comments BTL:
No-one really cares anymore - the Government and the everyday Tory voter. By "Boris being Boris" the country will end going to the knackers yard or a glue factory in China. He is flogging a dead horse already. Congratulations.

A compliant mass media that continuously & deafeningly whispers "Everything is OK, go back to sleep!"

But remember folks, don't call Brexiters "racist idiots" because they get VERY upset if you do. They even use big words like "sclerotic" to describe the EU, even though I suspect 95% of them don't know what it means.

Ask me how I know.

Grovelling to newspaper editors with ‘it was him, sir.’ Perhaps Johnson wasn’t as craven and pathetic on the phone as he sounds. And editors aren’t sharks who smell blood.

One thing I'm delighted to see is Starmer's now running with this.

Can some more of the shadow cabinet join in with him, please? I really want to see a government in waiting stating its case to the public.

John Trickett and Angela Rayner are being quite lively on the social medias about it.

On the matter of sclerotic, it's a very Dacre word. Along with swingeing and preening (once memorably described here as "the sort of word he'd use to describe Jonathan Ross").

#CrimeMinister is climbing the tweet ladder.

Had anybody done a deep dive into the source of the Johnson family fortune?
I've paid very little attention, but recall Stanley's job being "Poet".
He's certainly living a higher life than a Burns or a Ginsberg.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister faces less legal scrutiny than a chocolate caterpillar cake.

No, Alastair, they don't care.

I expect comparisons to reports about Iraqi WMD to be made in replies.

Although I've edited it, you can guarantee it will be amongst the replies.

Campbell is no saint.

Sorry Malc, but unlike some here I have no love of Blair and his assembled coterie, like I had none for Corbyn and company.

And as ever - it's the BBC getting it in the neck: what about ITV, what about Sky? Neither of those broadcasters need to worry about HMG cutting its revenue stream off - why single the BBC out?

Anyway, Liz Truss says Johnson paid for the flat renovation himself.

But she did not answer repeated questions on whether a Tory party donor initially provided the money to him.

She said that she was sure that Johnson hadn't broken any rules, she had been assured, and also that she had been far too busy to pay any attention to the matter, despite being briefed. She declined to say from whence came her assurance. Or briefing.

Not so much a car crash as a multiple pile up in fog.
