The matchless World Service "Weekend" this morning covered the unfolding GE in India and, whilst almost every interviewee stated that their own predicament is, at best, torpid, they applaud that the general economic situation is motoring in the right direction. The government is great, but they are the architects of their own misfortune.

It must be true because they read it in the papers and saw it on TV, and didn't hear dissenting voices from the opposition who Modi has anyway had arrested on spurious corruption charges.
