Red states will no doubt be insisting that all is well and those lovely ICE lads are doing a grand job, while places like Minneapolis are hotbeds of insurrection. There doesn't have to be stuff that can be portrayed as insurrection in every state - Trump is likely to claim falsely that there is if/when he wants to mobilise the Insurrection Act to cancel the mid-term elections.

There really isn’t anything you wouldn’t put past this malevolent looney and his sinister advisers and strategists.
Agreed. Also, if this was really about rounding up illegal migrants, Florida and Texas would be the best places to look (according to whichever Yank commentator it was I was watching last night). But of course those states are given a free pass because a) they're Red and b) it's nothing to do with immigration.

What's the world come to when Sepp Blatter is the hero we need?

Sepp Blatter suggests fans should not travel to US for World Cup

https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... -world-cup
Former Fifa president Sepp Blatter on Monday suggested he supports fans boycotting World Cup matches in the United States this year due to security concerns.

Blatter gave his support to comments from Swiss anti-corruption lawyer Mark Pieth, who worked with Fifa on potential reforms when Blatter was president, saying fans should stay away from the US for the tournament.

Quite a lot of the illegal migrants in Texas will be in the blue parts of the state- Houston, San Antonio, Austin- which might be next in line for Trump. They wouldn't have a Democrat state governor to fight their corner, unlike Mineapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles etc.

But there must be tons of illegal migrants in the non-blue parts of Texas, especially working in construction (where the biggest boom areas are often outside the cities) and in agriculture.

Also, rumours that Noem is in the firing line, and that after conversations with Walz and Frey, the orange cunt is sounding a LOT more conciliatory. He's fucked this one, and it's taco time.

I find it hard to believe that Trump could ever admit to a mistake.

The real power behind the throne is Stephen Miller. If you've not read up on him, I'd suggest you do...

Things seem to be moving in the right direction

The border commander who has emerged as the face of the Trump administration's ICE operation in Minneapolis is leaving his role.

A senior White House official and Trump administration figure said Gregory Bovino would be returning to a previous local position in El Centro, California.

It comes after Sky's US partner network NBC News reported some of his immigration enforcement agents would also depart the city on Tuesday.

Protesters assembled outside the hotel where Mr Bovino was reported to be staying on Monday night, facing off with federal officers.

It follows widespread backlash among the American public, leading Democrats, and a growing number of Republicans over the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti on Saturday - and the response to it...

...There has been a marked change in tone from the White House regarding Minneapolis amid the public backlash, including from the president himself.

NBC reports, citing administration officials, that Mr Trump is "concerned" about the sustainability of the operation.

"The visuals were not playing well. He understands TV. … He saw it for himself," said a Republican lawmaker who was granted anonymity to speak candidly.

Mr Trump is to meet the city's mayor, Jacob Frey, on Tuesday...
Trump has finally woken up to the fact that this is making him look bad and appears to have gone into damage limitation mode. Hopefully now this fucking lunacy will stop.

The lunacy won't stop, the bad public image will be managed better*

*possibly

They don't care, they'll just pretend they do. Trump doesn't give a shit so long as people adore him.

Beneath the Trump noise, there's another deep layer of Republican contempt. And beneath that there's the wellspring all US administrations draw from...
