Truss would spring to mind, Andrew Brigden perhaps? But yeah I would assume they will be more on the centre right than the right and far right.

On a similar note, surely the original, more rabid and hardcore section of their supporters must be as pissed off by the recent turn of Tories and events in the same way that the fans of a slightly edgy, alternative band in music are when their group release a radio-friendly tune and gradually become mainstream. "They were better in the early days" etc. They feel that their band has been taken away from them. Diluted to cater for wider tastes, and no different than what is already out there. That was one of the arguments of Reform admirers, that the Tories and Labour were too similar and Reform were different. All this points to the likelihood of division further down the line, these ex Tories have turned once, hopefully the new-look Reform will all be turning on each other at some point.

A Reform UK council chairman has been found to be illegally running two unsafe rental properties, according to a local authority.

The unlicensed houses in multiple occupation in Tamworth, Staffordshire, are owned by Warwickshire county councillor Edward Harris, who Tamworth Borough Council described as a "rogue landlord".

The council said it had issued closure notices on the homes after discovering "multiple serious safety failures", including a lack of central heating and hot water, no working fire alarms, inadequate cooking facilities and unsafe access to outdoor areas.

Harris, who earlier said he took "full accountability" over the homes, has resigned his position as chairman.

Harris also said he would resign the Reform whip and sit as an independent councillor while the matter was being looked into.

Warwickshire County Council's leader, George Finch, said: "It would be inappropriate to comment on the details while the proper process is ongoing, and I would urge others not to speculate."

Prior to his resignation, Harris said: "I've already accepted responsibility for the two properties, and made public my contrition for the situation and willingness to correct everything under my responsibilities as owner of those two properties."

Tamworth Borough Council said it had issued two emergency prohibition notices after finding tenants living in unsafe conditions.

The six-bedroom detached buildings, which housed multiple tenants, failed to meet even the most basic of living standards and legal requirements, the council added.

In a statement, the authority said Harris had repeatedly failed to take action to address the problems it had found.

This might sound strange, but bear with me.

Leaving work last night it was pitch black, cold, wet and miserable. The street had puddles where the paving slabs had broken, there was a queue for a bus that was either late or cancelled and one couple having an argument with rubbish around an overflowing bin.

At the station the waiting room was locked and a train was late by a few minutes, not much but one of those irritating delays for no apparent reason. Once on the train a couple of Metros were still strewn round, a wannabe gangster had his feet up on the seats and his phone on speaker while music was playing at the other end of the carriage.

Getting off the train more puddles, cars parked on the pavement, a bigger puddle caused by a blocked drain that traffic was driving through and soaking everyone walking, at a rough guess half the vehicles had lights that were either not working properly or dangerously bright. I got home and the man who was coming to clean the gutters still hasn't so the rain was overflowing and making the brickwork damp.

I know some of this is beyond anyone's control (although the Mail doubtless will blame the weather on the government) but the whole depressing experience smacked of nothing works anymore and nobody cares. And if I didn't know better I'd be tempted to vote Reform because all the others are useless.
