Mister Watson must just be on to something there.
God knows I'm no expert but a few years ago I looked at the way Labour were piling up massive majorities in constituencies that were becoming increasingly Muslim, and I feared for the future if such a voting bloc turned enough masse. It's happening now and if Yardley in 2024 is anything to go by it will get worse because there the older people stuck with Labour but it was the younger ones who voted overwhelmingly for the truly vile Jody McIntyre.

Problem is the balancing act they have to conjure up. Thats what Labour have had to do for centuries.

I do agree with pretty much all Tom says even if Lucy Powell has been seeking headlines again saying Andy would have won.

Sarah Pochin tweeted some rubbish earlier about being related to Agnes Pochin who was a founder member of the suffragettes. But plenty of people pointed out that Anges's maiden name wasn't Pochin and Sarah's maiden name wasn't Pochin. So the family link is very tenuous.

And has been told so many times over. Maybe there's hope after all.

Looking at the size of The Greens majority, I'm sceptical that Burham could have won. I think Starmer may have done him a favour.

It’s simply not possible to say whether Labour would have held the seat with Burnham as the candidate. I don’t think that it would have. We had a fantastic candidate in Angeliki Stogia, and still lost by about 5,000 votes .

And yet again, the “Burnham was blocked “ crowd fail to answer how it is supposedly the case that if Burnham really is this can’t fail dead cert winner in Manchester that he is claimed to be, then how the buggering fuck were we supposed to hang onto the Manchester mayoralty in the by-election necessitated by Burnham abandoning the mayoralty without him as our candidate ?

That is the actual reason Burnham was “blocked” from applying to stand for Gorton and Denton. It had fuck all to do with Starmer fixing it so that Burnham would not be in a position to challenge for the leadership, which was always nothing but a fantasy promoted by fevered and hostile political journos.
