But Davey is having to be a sensible one at the same time as the straight talking populist. That is harder to pull off.
I've not watched Ulster for years but isn't there a TUV that's outflanking the DUP.

Meanwhile a horde of one-man grifter parties are buzzing about Nigel's right elbow.

I was thinking about TUV, but hadn't seen the latest results (2024). They got 6.2% and won North Antrim off the DUP. So perhaps things have changed, but the DUP had a good run after going into government with Sinn Fein.

I think Farage will handle Rupert Lowe and co well enough, and a bit of distance from them might help with picking up Tory votes. He could be like Nixon in 1968, who had George Wallace making him look moderate.

Apart from drug dealers, people rarely handle banknotes. Davey had an opportunity to fill a vacuum and show what a responsible opposition leader looks like in an international crisis. But instead is acting the twat.
Even as a politics nerd I can only name 10 per cent of Lib Dem MPs. May as well be balloons on sticks with ‘not a Tory’ written on them.

He has not even got his ear to the ground. I would bet that most of his target voters care a lot more about wildlife than they do about a figure that's receding fast into hazy memory.

Or you're one of those GB News types like my sister, or someone like my homeless mate who defaulted on a massive credit card debt and went to ground for over six years. Lives a tax-free, cash in hand lifestyle to this day.

It's a badger now?
I throught it was Beavers (Farage) or Squirrels (Badenoch).

You'd think they could find something more concrete to moan about.

Churchill has only been on banknotes since 2016 (there's a conspicuous lack of carping around Turing and Austen), and the subjects for the banknotes are chosen by public vote.

I thought tbat we were all about democracy?

Not like that. Oh.

The comments on Facebook seem generally about 90% in favour of animals and wildlife.

Churchill would have been replaced in the next few years anyhow imagine the response if it had been a woman or heaven forbid someone who isn’t white. They’ve not had that yet.

Ha ha.

Davey has to keep this rubbish up for another 3 years. What's he going to contrive an attack from next? The great British sausage?

This is what's called "culture war" when other people do it.

I can do

Sarah Olney
Max Wiliknson (my hometown)
Richard Foote (won a by election)
Munira Wilson (used to work with my mate, who said she was very nice and a good laugh)
Daisy Cooper (been there a while)
Wera Hobhouse (ditto)
Laila Moran (ditto)
Christine Jardine (ditto)

I wonder if they're struggling because they can't announce anything beyond being unhappy with banknotes and fantasy EU deals, because they don't want to give the impression they'll raise taxes. Back in the 90s, up till about 2007, they were at least prepared to give the impression they would do that, even if the amounts were not great. Someone pointed out that the not exactly far left Jo Swinson proposed bigger tax rises in one manifesto (2019) than all the previous Lib Dem manifestos put together.

Got Cooper, Olney, Moran and Davey of course. Two Cambs MPs Pippa Heyling and some drip called (Forgot her first name) Cane. The other is Mike Martin , a former army officer, business troubleshooter and a geopolitics academic. A man to watch.

We've already seen their reactions to that.
