He doesn't have any credibility to lose on international crises. His entire appeal is fewer foreigners over here and sticking it to clever people. I'm optimistic that his association with Trump will be much more of a liability by 2029, but perhaps he'll distance himself sufficiently by then. His u-turn suggests to me that he does have more ambition towards winning elections than I thought he had. This might hurt his ability to hoover up Trumper money.

The UK's youngest council leader is facing a vote of no confidence after being accused of bringing the authority "into disrepute".

Reform UK's George Finch, who leads Warwickshire County Council, was appointed last summer at the age of 19.

Green Party councillors called for a vote on Finch's position at the next full council meeting on 17 March, suggesting he has "abused the office of leader".

Reform UK council leader George Finch has survived a no confidence call by one vote.

The vote was carried out at Warwickshire County Council's full council meeting after Green Party councillors suggested he had "abused the office of leader".

Twenty six councillors voted for the motion and 27 against, while two councillors abstained from voting.

Speaking afterwards, Finch, who made headlines last year after becoming the youngest council leader in the UK at 19, said he did not want to "waste any more time" talking about the vote and thanked councillors who had supported him.

Of course, this being them, it's a grift. People have checked the small print and as one might expect, there are plenty of get-out clauses in case the winner has lots of neighbours, doesn't support Fargle enough, or might be insufficiently grateful. What you're left with is a data mining activity, possibly a case of treating, almost certainly illegal. And if anyone 'wins' chances are it'll be a suitably photogenic white British granny without too many neighbours, and who is properly grateful for Fargle's (strictly limited) largesse.

The Reform UK MP Lee Anderson has used his parliamentary office to record paid-for personalised messaging videos, in a possible breach of rules that prohibit the commercial use of the Palace of Westminster.

Anderson, who had already been warned about commercial filming in Westminster, sold two videos filmed from what he called the “beating heart of democracy in Westminster” in early February 2025.

Both were Valentine’s Day messages sold for £45 and £56 via the video messaging app Cameo, which enables the public to commission short clips from celebrities and public figures.
