This shocks me, I wouldn’t have expected it from a bloke who once claimed he could increase the size of women’s breasts through hypnosis.

When asked what super-power I'd most like, I usually answer "invisibility".

I wish I had Zac's imagination.

If he was attempting to see them to back the Greens it would make sense but all this does is basically defund the left side of politics.

He's already turned up at NEU promising to do basically everything they want. And he's promised lots of extra money. Is anyone keeping count on how many times he's going to spend this wealth tax money?

Labour in government has generally tried hard to balance working with unions and avoiding producer capture. Zack's got no sense of that at all, it's just a dash to replace Labour.

How's this going to work with Unite? They represent thousands of workers in the oil and gas industry, plus all those who work for the likes of BAE Systems.

Their leader is a full on Stop The War guy. I'm sure he'd love to chuck money at the Greens.

That might be controversial more widely in the union though. He was elected on a 9% turnout. A few challengers might fancy mobilizing against the loss of the union's traditional distance from party politics. Would he and his pals risk that?

Where does this "hoarding" rubbish come from? What is this, Moliere's Miser? Rich people invest money, at the very least putting it in the bank (who invest money).

This is the trouble with wealth tax stuff generally. It's a tax on investment, not taking money that is waiting there to be picked, like blackberries on a bramble bush. The wealthy have other options (nearly all the rest of the world) where they can invest without this tax.

He's rivaling Craig Bellamy for the title of World's Oldest Teenager.

This is absolutely pathetic stuff. Just a meme machine, saying "Mandelson" a lot. From what I know about Mandelson, I doubt he liked all that much of what Labour put in the manifesto and are doing.

And specifically nuclear weapons workers at Aldermaston and Burghfield. Unite's position is that it opposes nuclear weapons but has to support its members jobs for as long as there is no alternative employment at the same pay. They didn't even back Corbyn to do that, so presumably won't back Zack.

I'm going to praise Green members here.

https://www.thecanary.co/uk/news/2026/0 ... nce-votes/
The Green Party conference has voted in favour of a motion opposing nationalisation of “the five largest energy supply companies”.
The position of this motion is Left in terms of promoting public investment in supply, while recognizing that the retail suppliers make modest returns. I questioned whether Zack was the right man to knock the members into shape for government. Maybe the members knock him into shape.
