What is it with Truss? Does she actually believe this shit or is it an just act? Or, has she lost her marbles? Or, is she just thick as mince? How it possible for someone who was the leader of the Conservative party and the Prime Minister to not see that she is the very essence of the Establishment in the UK?

No, she's not unwell.

She's a fully paid-up member of the Libertarian Right; no thuggery, just ultra-capitalism - very much in the Ayn Rand mould.

Before I left its toxic domain, I used to post on a car forum (it was fucking useless for technical help, by the way) and once I'd shown myself as vaguely left-wing, the pile-ons began to the extent of "your father would have been ashamed of you" - that sort of stuff. (As an aside, what is it about car forums that attract racist/sexist/homophobic posters?)

I digress; there were several posters there very much of the "no pay, no play" mentality, who felt that their taxes were being wasted on the undeserving - the disabled, the NHS ("I work out and eat healthily, why should I pay for fatties to get help?"), schools ("I don't have kids so why should I pay for them?), libraries ("if I want to read a book, I'll buy it and so should others") - you can draw up your own list.

Of course, we may just be victims of a British TDS - Truss Derangement Syndrome...

Her entire act seems to be down to the fact she couldn't accept she was an utter failure. It wasn't surprising considering the Tory Party had hollowed out. Badenoch isn't much better but anyone can be opposition leader if they aren't noticed for long enough.

Johnson hollowed out the Tory Party and I'm not sure they've seen any return of those types who are eithier politically homeless or have moved to LD, Lab our even Greens not to mention Plaid and SNP.

My Fanfiction Theory is :grinning:

Liz Truss is the British Right's Carlton Palmer.

You're selling corporate sports packages to disinterested suits:
Slap up meal, box for a Wembley international and meet and greet with "Former England Star".

You're pushing your weird gathering of the international right.
Food, Lodgings, "Independent" Press, keynote speaker "Former British PM".

More like Brian Marwood. When he was an analyst on 5Live they would introduce him as "former England international Brian Marwood" off the back of an 82nd minute substitute appearance in a friendly against Saudi Arabia.

I guess Marwood gets it for longevity.

Palmer's in for: everybody in the UK knows - elsewhere he's another 18 cap international.
