Nigel Farage bought £1.4m property after receiving £5m gift from British crypto billionaire, Sky News learns
Money for security, wasn't it?
Although still not enough to stop him from being scared of holding surgeries in Clacton.

Ah but someone no one has ever been able to find and who Nigel won't tell us about in the speakers office advised him not to do them.

I doubt it. And if it was getting reported, Chris Mason et al would be taking about how it was really horrible news for Starmer for some spurious reason.

Farage was pictured in May last year getting off the helicopter in Kent after his party won the county council elections there, and data shows that it has travelled to and from other locations on dates when Reform rallies were being held.

When questioned about why Farage had not declared the travel, Reform UK said the flights had been paid for “at commercial rates” and there was “no undeclared registrable interest” arising from those flights.
Paid in cash, lost the receipt, no doubt.

This 1.4m house; does that mean that the 880,000-odd place in Clacton was under-reported, and was the correct amount of stamp-duty paid. Or is it another house, and, if so, what stamp-duty was paid?

You have to factor in the cost of a panic room and a granny annexe for the 24/7 security guards.

Got to hand it to the Guardian which almost single handedly continues to pick away at the Farage/Reform scab. Alas, I suspect not many are watching and it's having little impact. For too many, Farage is their saviour who's going to fix everything.

If the 5m was him being rewarded (paid, remunerated) for 27 years' graft in getting his Brexit, he will surely have squared up HMRC, no?

His lot make the Jezzerati seem like critical friends. We're now seeing how Hitler got to power.

Dan Neidle reckon he probably doesn't have to. The cases where gifts are taxable are pretty limited eg employees getting gifts from they're employers (what looks very like payments to avoid income tax) and one where some cricket fans had a collection for a cricketer because he'd done well at cricket. This was taxable as income from his job as a cricketer. Might be worth a pop with Farage though, or a tightening of the law.

It seems to be a different house to the Clacton one, in Surrey somewhere.

As far as I can understand, no extra stamp duty paid to be paid on the Clacton place because he isn't married to his partner. That means that if they fall out, he's got no stake in it...
