President Donald Trump has told Congress that US hostilities with Iran have "terminated" owing to an ongoing ceasefire as he argued that he did not need lawmakers' authorisation for the conflict.

"There has been no exchange of fire between the United States Forces and Iran since April 7, 2026," the president wrote to congressional leaders. "The hostilities that began on February 28, 2026 have terminated."

It came on the 60th day since he formally notified Congress of strikes against Iran.

US law requires him to "terminate any use of United States Armed Forces" within 60 days of such a notification - unless Congress allows a continuation.

The oil and jet fuel will be moving soon, the World Cup and all the $$$s through visitors, tv streams, sponsors etc that brings in he will take credit for, that won't be jeopardised. But I don't think MAGA thought that far ahead two months ago, self sabotaging consequences aren't something the far right tend to consider.

White House calls Mark Hamill 'sick' after actor's Trump grave post

"These Radical Left lunatics ‌just can't help themselves," they replied.

"This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President."
21st March:
“Robert Mueller just died,” Trump posted to Truth Social shortly after the news of the former FBI director’s death became public on Saturday afternoon. “Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”

That's just an election for who the Republican candidate will be. Trump's asserting his stranglehold on the Republican party but in the grand scheme of things it's no worry for the Democrats. That district is 2:1 Republican so the Dems would never tip it. In fact, it's so Republican at the last election Dems did not even field a candidate and Massie won it with 99% of the vote.

He's also endorsed the notoriously corrupt Ken Paxton for Texas Senate v John Cornyn, who was the No,2 Senate Republican until 2024, but has voted with the Democrats a couple of times. Paxton might be favourite to win now, which might conceivably put the state in play in November.
