As Terry Pratchett said, nothing moves faster than monarchy. The instant she dies, Charles is king. And besides, other royals acting as her proxy is quite common.

"Constitutional crisis" generally means that the person raising it hasn't thought much about it.

That would normally happen, but would the mourning period negate the hand kissing stuff?

Why should it? A 5 minute ritual among all the rest of stuff.

Besides, for all the importance it's being given, I think it falls into Welshmen in Chester territory.

Team of all the talents, but at least no IDS or John Redwood.

If that's Clarke, not Clark, then it's Simon, not the more sensible Greg.

I wonder if Liz will have quietly ditched the cabinet minister who has been accused of sexual misconduct?

Do you think you could possibly narrow the field a bit to give us all a fecking clue who you’re talking about ?

It's not the one who's being investigated for sexual assault and rape, he's not in the cabinet. Or David Warburton, I don't think. It's the one who has been accused a week or so ago by a 'parliamentary aide'.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... ape-bailed
...the Conservatives have faced multiple scandals relating to sexual abuse and misbehaviour.
A date was announced on Tuesday for two byelections triggered by the resignation of Conservative MPs. Imran Ahmad Khan, the former MP for Wakefield, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy, while the former Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish admitted watching pornography in the House of Commons chamber...

Another Conservative MP, David Warburton, who represents Somerton and Frome, has had the whip suspended while under investigation for sexual harassment by the Commons’ independent complaints and grievance scheme.
This one:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/ ... ct-reports
A cabinet minister and a high-ranking aide at No 10 Downing Street continued to work in Boris Johnson’s government despite allegations of sexual misconduct against them, according to reports.

Two women have given first-hand accounts of what they claim happened to them when one was assaulted and the other groped by political figures, both now in senior roles.

Is Truss actually cutting national insurance or is she just delaying a rise that was due to be implemented in April 2023?

I assume much like that photo shoot where she was holding a phone upside down, Truss read her copy of Robin Hood backwards and assumed you’re supposed to take money from the poor and return it to the rich.

I understand that staff at the Department of Justice are expecting Brandon Lewis to become the next Secretary of State for Justice. Given such a job to somebody with no legal background gives some indication of the direction of travel under a Truss government.

I was surprised to read that Brandon Lewis used to be a barrister.
Lewis was born on 20 June 1971 in Harold Wood in London. He was educated at Forest School in Walthamstow.[1] He received a degree in economics from the University of Buckingham, an LLB in law from the same institution,[2] and an LLM in Commercial Law from King's College London.[1] He was called to the bar by the Inner Temple
