Interesting view that workers don't like bank holidays there. That's "populism" for you.

At least the Daily Mail used to make an effort with its excuses, which went rather like:
1. You don't want this extra Bank Holiday that's probably to commemorate a black one legged lesbian.
2. It will be at a completely inconvenient day when you wouldn't normally want a day off.
3. And if everybody's on holiday you'll spend three hours in a traffic jam to get to Saafend.
4. Meanwhile Fritz at the Munich plant will have cranked out 30 extra units, while your job gets listed for closure.

5. it should be on Battle of Britain Day.
6. Or Trafalgar.

5 & 6 are close, but the truth is worse.
Charles Moore (off of te Telegraphs) suggested Margeret Thatcher Day.

Over on Mail Online, in the comments the most pressing concerns are that the tens of millions of Iranians in Britain will now rise up and there'll be a sharp increase in the number of dinghies. Better just to kill 'em all.
