Healthy hospital food might be of limited value. Don't you just want people to eat while they're in there?

The Japan case is interesting, particularly dieticians in school. But over here, the reaction would probably be "You hate freedom! You aren't even a proper teacher!"

Well it would be from Katherine Birbalsingh, I don't know about the kids.

Political writer (Hugh Muir) does Sport, with hilarious results.

Look at Wimbledon without human line judges and tell me this: do you really want life to be perfect?
I think life (and indeed tennis) is likely to remain less than perfect for a while. Provided automation is quick and efficient, what's the problem? With football you get all sorts of subjectivity on top of VAR, which causes problems and takes ages and irritates lots of people. Nobody though has a problem with the automated goal line check, which is what an automated line judge is.

Whatever you think of the proscription of Palestine Action, this was pretty predictable. George was pretty reckless the other day in urging people to come out and defy the law. They can't send us all to prison etc.

No, but if there are enough cops around, they can arrest you and you'll probably get a criminal record. Not every employer will react to that in the same way at the Guardian. I think advice along the lines of "protest but remember to box clever" might have been more appropriate. Don't stand there with a fucking sign, for starters.

It really annoys the way the Guardian and others make out that Palestine Action are just peace loving good people protesting against genocide and ignoring their history of criminality and dubious links.

The Guardian have also rather underemphasized that Bob Vylan didn't just attack the IDF. He also did a really nasty rant about a "Zionist cunt" record executive who went on about Israel all the time.

I wouldn't have thought it was too difficult to track this man down. Did he really show up for work and keep banging on about Israel? That wouldn't seem to be particularly relevant to the business of selling records. If Israel came up, perhaps Mr Vylan mentioned it first?

I wonder if Monbiot will get his collar felt for incitement?
These arrogant fuckers need to learn they're not above the law.

I doubt it. The law's not really enforceable against everybody, that's clear. But turn up where there are lots of police standing around, holding a sign, and you'll probably end up with a criminal record.

Banging up the priests and the journalists before bedtime?

If only priests and journalists like Niemöller and Orwell had pointed out the potential pitfalls with that.

Yep, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people say So what if he said death to the IDF, People are dying in Gaza so why are you talking about that, whilst completely ignoring or downplaying when he said about Zionists running the music industry was far worse.

Citing an entirely valid credo as justification for murder is a weak argument, especially when you are dealing with contracted artists.

When it comes to defending the toilet that is the present Israeli government, I'm no legal scholar, but I doubt that "I was only doing a Zionism" will cut much ice at The Hague.

Supporting a proscribed organisation is illegal. It follows that encouraging others to support a proscribed organisation is also illegal. Priests and journalists are not above the law, nor should they be in a democratic society.

What about this bit?
But before that chant Robinson-Foster had treated the crowd to a rant about a former employer that most certainly was antisemitic. “We’ve done it all, from working in bars to working for fucking Zionists…” he told them, referring to someone from the music industry who had signed an open letter calling for Kneecap to be disinvited from the festival. “Who do I see on that fucking list of names?” demanded Vylan, “But that bald-headed cunt I used to fucking work for.”
That's not "just criciticising the IDF and the current Israeli government".

Those who hid Jews in 1940s Germany were also breaking the law.

An unjust legal sledgehammer will never have legitimacy, and Cooper should have been smart enough to understand that as the Labour rounds off another week of stellar political agility.

What did she think would happen?

Sabotaging a plane that would go nowhere near Gaza but might end up helping NATO allies isn't like hiding Jews in Nazi Germany, whatever you think of the proscription.

Expect most of these will plead guilty and pay fines.

For clarification, the conversation right now is not about criminal acts which are adequately covered by existing legal frameworks.

The Met have thrown an 82 year old woman in the cells for grumbling about Cooper's ass of a law and some jolly unpleasant genociding.
