Guess I prefer American turns of phrase more than their sports.
It's got quite a following in Britain, it's more than an excuse to get pissed like some others suggest here.
Quite a fun game.
I got involved in recreational play as a Postgraduate when the USA and Japanese students who stayed behind for summer organised games.
Some field positions are very specialised, but a cricket guy could do a decent job standing in the deep and swinging and hoping at bat.

I persuaded a few to have a go at cricket, but the rules and timescales aren't beginner friendly.

Pfft.

A decade of chaotic Tory psychodrama has left most political lobby journalists unable to do their job in more normal political times. Reporting on dull ministers getting on with implementing policies to improve the country is Kryptonite for Mason, Watt, Kuenssberg etc.

Quite noticeably, I see that Farage's Broadcaster is now referring to Derry/Londonderry as Londonderry. It is as if they simply no longer care.

Well, there always seems to have been at least one consistently rigid manifestation of politics : Cyprus always giving Greece full marks, and vice versa.

It really isn't surprising that countries with similar cultures should have similar tastes in formulaic pop music, is it?

There was the General Franco jury knobling scandal that emerged in a Spanish TV report three decades after the 1968 contest. Spain's La La La beat Cliff Richard's Congratulations by a point but the Spanish jury had strangely awarded the UK with nul point.
Sir Cliff didn't seem to be at all vexed by this sordid affair.

I see that Question Time is back on, with a special Trump-themed edition. A good 15 minutes in, and they’re still talking about fucking immigration. The audience wanker count is at about 3, so far, including a ludicrous arse with a Michael Heseltine haircut and what seems to be a uniform jacket from the Crimean War peddling the “It’s not racist” line while guffing out racist shit. Piers Morgan is there, which boosts the wanker count significantly. Thankfully, Bonnie Greer is there to hand both wankers their arses.
