The adverts issue. Just saying what we're all thinking.
I’ve no problem with colour-blind casting. It’s called acting. But you never get white actors playing black parts. And as I’ve observed before, in ITV’s Vera, set in rural Northumberland, even the gamekeepers are black.
Where is it written that all gamekeepers are white? How do you define a white or black role? If the race of the character has no bearing on the plot, why would it matter? Oh, and I'm pretty sure you've whinged about tokenism before.
If you watch an advert and think that because of the skin colour of the person in the ad, the product isn't for you - essentially that there are black brands and white brands and so on - then you're differentiating on a basis of race and that makes you a racist cunt. If the presence of black or brown faces triggers you, you're a racist.
We spent the weekend before last in North Norfolk and practically the only non-white face we saw belonged to a young woman serving in the seaside village convenience store where we stopped to pick up our Daily Mail.
Girl in the cornershop. Think that's a bit of a cliche.
Anyway, that Wes Streeting...
He called Pochin’s remarks ‘racist’ and a ‘disgrace’. Talk about pots and kettles. This is the same Wes Streeting who once said he wanted to push the Daily Mail’s Jan Moir under a train because he disliked something she’d written.
That’s what I call a disgrace. Yet far from being cancelled and investigated by police for incitement to violence....
[snip]
To be honest, I’m not even sure her language was all that clumsy. ‘Drives me mad’ is a figure of speech, not to be taken literally, although ‘full of black people’ could have been more tactfully phrased.
Well, what if Streeting was merely using a figure of speech, and could have used more tactful phrasing? Fucking hell, you really copying fucking Trump, aren't you? Showing us the con. Telling us how you're tricking us, because you despise your readership that much.
Cunt.
