In my experience, twerps like him received the verbal feedback they so richly deserved for a few reasons:
* West Indian heritage players were well established in English club cricket and well respected.
* The England test side benefited from a broader player choice, particularly of quicker bowlers.
* After some "retired colonel" type spoke his branes, we'd see a performance like Devon Malcolm's 9 for 57 at the Oval.
