Under Labour Party rules, Corbyn has now automatically expelled himself by declaring himself a candidate standing against an official Labour candidate. Furthermore, any Labour member who signs his nomination papers, delivers a leaflet, or donates to his campaign is similarly out of the party instantly under the same rule.
We knew this was coming, but good that it's now here. The party is finally rid of the twat, who is now free to join the "crank former Labour MPs who wear daft hats" club, sole member hitherto one Galloway, G.
Starmer has today indicated that a decision on Diane Abbott should be made by 4 June.

Looks as if Corporal Jones is beginning to panic at the amazing revelation that you can't just succeed in elections by holding rallies.

Good thing he's got his massive grassroots army of dedicated volunteers to do all of that.
He has, right?

Yes Owen, because there’s some of us out here, on phones, knocking doors, putting leaflets through letters boxes, and we did it for Corbyn and we’re doing it for Starmer. And this may come as a surprise but it’s because we want to see a Labour government

Is exactly the point. I can't remember any centrist melts screaming on Twitter in 2019 about how Corbyn was useless and we should vote for someone else.

I assume Owen will be helping out by door knocking himself and working for Jez? Hello? Owen??!?
Still, I’m sure endlessly complaining while doing practically nothing, and very specifically *not* doing the things that might mean he can make a difference might be appealing, as at least that’ll make him feel more like his hero.

What makes me wonder ever so slightly is he has been MP for 41 years, you’d know your patch to some degree, I do think this is why some Tory campaigns look lost. The data isn’t there and some haven’t been near a member of the public for 10 years.
It’s why this idea some of these independents thing they can win, they won’t have the data, I would assume Galloway and Corbyn would be the best bets for an Independent win.
They can cause a disruption but other than that.

Impeccable Trot logic here. Don't vote the Tories out because it'll just happen somehow magically anyway. Vote for Green fantasy instead.

I love that line about how poor people can't afford the Greens. It cuts to the heart of so much discourse - poor people can't afford socialist purity, principles and winning the argument. Because under a Tory government poor people die, and that should be written in letters ten feet high.

Europe can’t afford an anti NATO party in power in Britain. Sympathetic to the Greens on many issues until defence and Putin comes up.

The reason the Tories "are out anyway" is because sufficient people are prepared to vote for Labour, the only other party which can form a government.
Even if The Greens achieve their best forecast result, they are not going to big enough to "hold Starmer's feet to the fire" (a justification for a Green vote I sometimes hear parroted), let alone be able to form a government of their own.
If your priority is the environment and climate change there's only one party to vote for because only Labour can deliver. The Tories won't and the others can't.

If significantly more people are saying they want to vote him out, in what way is he "more popular"?

Maybe they could take a leaf out of Corbyn’s book and do nothing, then claim the the real fight starts now after the event.
Would be fitting.

“Winning the argument” is the phrase, I believe.

I appear to have been a victim of bloody autocorrect.
