More good natured rough and tumble football from the 80s. Admittedly not the West Midlands, Luton v Millwall 1985. But Jenrick is clear that it's "Britain" which has changed, so here goes. Not just in the ground either.

Have you read the comments on the YT video?

Empty pub.

Could've sworn the place was busy before that bellend came in.

I don't think I've ever seen a Tory MP doing off-duty one of the lads without wearing a round-neck sweater.

But they couldn't pull this off without a compliant press.

Someone in the Tories who wants the party to remain relatively sane could really ratfuck Jenrick over this stuff, “hotels”, supporting Remain etc.

That's Chris Felch, not Honest Bob.

Meanwhile, BBC News hasn't raised a peep about their sympathetic pursuit of the Abd El-Fattah story without Googling him.

To be fair during the piece on him on radio 2 news they did mention that the Tories had been responsible for his citizenship after giving allowing their comment, was a bit refreshing for their short news bulletin.

Assume someone got the sack.

Radio 4 news have certainly been making that point too.

Jup, the tories said that he was a good egg so, as per usual, any journalistic rigour or curiosity flew out the window.

It's a bit Paedofinder General, isn't it

Of course. That's how the Tories operate now...

Well, given their allegedly highly industrious leader seems to spend her entire life on X finding something to be outraged about/turn into policy, is it a surprise?

Let’s just take the very basic of infrastructure, Labour announce any small scale project and someone finds some ancient woodland link, you can’t even put up a phone mast on an industrial estate without some campaign.

HS2 is massively over budget because pretty much 80% of it so far is a tunnel, Jenrick should stick to painting over murals it’s about his level.
According to Robert Jenrick himself, we've already had this high "Victorian" golden age of infrastructure. Here he is in 2018, invoking the spirit of Thomas Telford, and sounding like the Headmaster in "If...". Britain today is a powerhouse, and all that.

It's fair to give some leeway for Covid, but that didn't stop eg engineers and analysts putting together business cases for all this stuff. "Spade ready" is a silly expression, because in practice there never is a load of stuff sitting around ready to go because it would be a massive waste of money, but shouldn't we have been a bit further on?
