It is true that the public probably haven't been prepared for short term costs. It's easy to talk about green jobs and opportunity but we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't have to. But it's kind of his job to make the point that there is a cost, but costs of not doing it are higher. They make that sort of argument all the time with Defence spending, what's the problem here? If you just say "fuck it, not paying the costs", that isn't moderate.

It comes 493rd in England.

My constituency is pretty affluent and comes 302nd. Not to say there are now poorer people in villages- we live next to a small council-built road with probably about 10 houses that the council still own- but my guess is that most of the poorer people live on estates in Leominster and Ledbury. So not "rural poor", exactly. I'd be surprised if the poorer people in Kemi's constituency didn't live mostly in towns.

Correct, she’s talking out of her backside as usual. Very prosperous rural catchment area, popular with old rock stars like Ray Davies. Saffron Walden is well connected by rail and bus, her constituency is not rural Norfolk or the Fens where you’re well fucked without a car.
