Think of the nicer elements of Faragists in the same way you would a kitten. No matter how cute and cuddly it may seem it would, if big enough and hungry enough, kill and eat you.

The gift that keeps on giving

A newly-elected Reform UK councillor has been suspended, the BBC understands.

Kent county councillor Daniel Taylor for Cliftonville, near Margate, will now sit as an independent.

Taylor, who was seen with Nigel Farage on the campaign trail in Kent and was voted in during local elections on 1 May, is yet to publicly comment.

A Reform UK spokesperson said: "Following a matter which is now with the police, the group whip has been withdrawn from Councillor Taylor with immediate effect."...

A Reform councillor was prevented from speaking against a proposal that a Welsh county take part in a UK Government pilot scheme to house asylum seekers.

At a meeting of Powys County Council’s Liberal Democrat/Labour cabinet, on Tuesday, June 10, members received a report on whether or not the council should show interest in taking part in the Home Office Asylum Dispersal Pilot scheme.

Powys council’s Reform UK group leader Cllr Iain McIntosh said: “I’ve been refused the opportunity to speak at today’s meeting to raise strong concerns about this proposal, particularly on behalf of local residents in my ward — many of whom remain on the housing waiting list while services in rural areas are already under strain.”

A council spokesman explained that there is “no provision” under the council constitution that allows leaders of opposition groups to speak at cabinet meetings on any item they wish to.

Two things going on here.

Firstly special pleading by the Reform councillor who thinks that the rules don't apply to him, and secondly, and of more concern, a reputable news outlet giving the fucker the time of day for clicks.

I'm starting to lose my sense of optimism that the good guys are going to win in the end.

Well, lord only knows why they need a “party chair” at all, since Reform UK is a private company (principal shareholder: N. Farage), not a political party, but Zia Yusuf’s replacement is a gay former television presenter with a medical degree , who was the party’s deputy leader in 2021, when he “ faced a backlash for selling pricey HIV self-test kits, despite the fact that similar tests were available free on the NHS.”

Another grifter, then. Plus ca change …

@Killer Whale Have you heard about Farage's speech on Welshness in which he explains who (in the view of a racist English drunk), is, and isn't, a rightful member of something he calls the "Welsh language community"? It's Trumpian in it's mangling of language and thought, was thirsty Nige pissed? Who knows.
Here's Phil Moorhouse to tell you more.

He knows full well that a big part of his support north of the Valleys is white-flighters from England, so he needs to keep them on side. Of course, he's just making up bullshit 'common sense' on the hoof. As usual.

I prefer Dafydd Iwan's comment that "anyone can be Welsh, as long as they're prepared to take the consequences".

Private Eye hates Labour, doesn't it? There's way more being spent on water investment, for example. What Reform thrive on, as much as anything, is bills and taxes going up. Perhaps Private Eye can suggest an alternative to that, or are they in the Bozo-Reform camp of cake too?

That's not an article from Private Eye but a series of spoof foreign correspondent articles pretending to be from a newspaper in Papua New Guinea. Think it's a satirist called Henry Morris but not sure.

I read this, and thought of a domestic "party" leader.
"Exploiting a loophole in Dutch electoral law, Wilders chose not to allow any formal members into his party. Ultimately, he has failed to build and lead a professional political organisation that is capable of governing."
