The BBC may not know the whole story, but they understand that Jack Hughes was part of the plot.

Apologies for the source, but it looks like Johnson has his orders and Dorries is just the right sort of thick and unimaginative twat to carry them out

Rupert Murdoch told PM he MUST get rid of the BBC while 'bouncing Wilfred on his knee' during visit to his country house, says Boris Johnson's sister

...Miss Johnson said: 'In my judgment the BBC will be here in ten years.

'But it is going to be an increasing struggle when the whole of the television story is about streaming and subscription, to have the BBC which costs £4billion to run, which gets £3billion in from the licence fee, to have that entity as a competitor.

'Especially when you have got people like Rupert Murdoch going to Chequers and saying to my brother, as he dandles Wilf on his knee, 'Boris you've got to get rid of the BBC, it's eating my lunch, they got a website, they're a publisher, it's not competitive'. You can see that there are pressures from all sides.'...

I think once we have a fibre to every door in the UK the pressure to turn off the terrestrial transmitter network will be huge - but with a complete change in programme delivery technology, the BBC will become the equivalent of PBS in America and subscription funded.

But what about the Express readers who need their grandchildren to tune the channels?

Well, the grandchildren can ring Sky up to get them tuned in...

That aside, the future has already appeared - it's called Sky Glass. An IPTV - no aerial, no dish.

The Daily Mail is attacking BoZo and its readers are defending the BBC. To think, we thought 2020 was as strange as it gets.

Well Uncle "Godfather" Rupert, the BBC were here before you.

And with a bit of luck they'll be here after you're gone.

I wouldn't bet on it. Rupert will eventually die, but his dynasty won't.

He has plenty of offspring.
I'm hopeful that none of them will be quite as politically toxic as he is.

Sure: They'll be typical billionaire types, but what's their incentive to continue diverting energy into culture-war issues when they could settle down somewhere nice, run things at arm's length and collect their salaries.

But isn't Murdoch about to launch a new digital news channel with Piers Morgan being one of the channel's star presenters?

The Tory campaign against the BBC's political reporting , specifically the removal of Laura Kuenssberg, had a temporary setback today thanks to the robust defence of Jo Stevens in the face of this piece of editorial interference.

Nadine Dorries will have to up her game.

Edit: Dorries has now deleted her Tweet.

Oooh. Andrew Marr is leaving the BBC and going to LBC/Classic FM.

https://news.sky.com/story/andrew-marr- ... s-12472519
Marr said he will be taking up his new roles "from the New Year".

In a statement released by Global, he said: "Coming to Global gives me a new freedom - to do fast-paced, very regular political journalism on LBC with no filter, in entirely my own voice.

"On Classic FM, I'll be exploring my love of classical music, and culture generally, with some surprising guests. I feel I'm joining a young, hungrily ambitious and exciting company and I can't wait to get stuck in."
I reckon he'll be another Ferrari.

Reading between the lines, it very much looks to have been instigated by Global. It would not surprise me if they have stumbled upon a phenomenon whereby they can redefine and extend peak listening hours based upon whoever is presenting.
