There's a certain mindset that says any comparison to the Nazis that falls short of a full recreation of 1930s Germany, set in Germany, and in the 1930s, is just fearmongering. The trouble is that Trump and Musk get most of their information about what is happening in Britain by reading the deranged tweets of Farage, Rupert Lowe and Tommy Robinson. If these three shite hawks all claim that Sharia law exists in Britain, Trump will regard this as a fact.

Sharia “courts” do exist in the UK ( and in the USA too), as do the Jewish Beth Din courts, serving respectively the Islamic and Jewish communities in resolving mostly financial and family disputes, but importantly, the judgements of both courts have no binding legal status in UK jurisprudence and are subordinate to UK law. But Trump, cynical ignoramus that he is, doesn’t let those facts get in the way of his racist lies.

As far as I know, my form teacher led a short prayer with about half my classmates.
If any planning was going on, they kept it well under wraps.

In my time as a librarian, a frequently repeated one I've heard is that if you stock a copy of the Koran, it has to be on the top shelf, as 'no book can be above it'. Now, aside from the existence of upper storeys, this is just so bloody easy to disprove, given the average public library's religion section is going to be so tiny (and likewise the preceding non-fiction sections in Dewey order) that it'll typically be mid-shelving bay. And that it's bollocks. As one Imam I knew said, "Why?".

Yet it gets repeated, by racist twats. Show someone that it's not on the top shelf and they'll go "Yeah but they'll spot it and demand you move it!". No they bloody won't. The only publications I've seen Muslims consistently put on the top shelf are scan mags in newsagents' stores.

It's interesting how the attitude to Freemasons is very different in Australia, where they seem a much more open and charitable body.

Didn't have that problem with assemblies at my secondary school; they were non-religious. Primary school was strictly CofE with daily hymns and prayers (and a weekly visit from the vicar) but the Jehovah's Witnesses could sit it out back in class.
