They're not haram, as far as I can see, just culturally inappropriate.

Similarly, they are kosher but unapproved.

I preferred the beef MM myself, but the pickled onion was a good sub.

I doubt that I will get much traction for this but, for a cheese board, I do like to grind up ready salted crisps and make them in to a paste with Worcester Sauce and a dashette of Tabasco.
