According to the rowers when they finally reached land their were hundreds of people/vigilantes waiting for them with torches. This could have lead to a serious public order incident. Presumably if that had occurred Rupert would have denied any responsibility.

Came here to say: Great Yarmouth wishes it was the new Hartlepool.
One of the Rowers is a Royal Marine.
It might have been fun to see a couple of Tommy wannabees catching the broad end of a paddle up their hoops.
