Are they now so desperate for viewers that they feel compelled to attempt to appeal to non-gammons?

Here's a hint: It won't work.

The other half have started watching re-runs of Crossroads because they value production values too highly.

Twitter bristling this evening - well, sort of - over rumours that Saint Toupée has chucked it.

He's 72, and not the most healthy looking 72 year old at that, so wouldn't be surprised if he gave up either his show or the chairmanship.

Either would be very humiliating.

On par with Scotland's run in the Euros.

Since its launch, he's spent longer off the channel than on it. And he was the only really heavyweight name - even those poached from GMTV or the papers were nowhere close to him. So if he goes, so does any claim to any sort of credibility.

I wonder if this will ever puncture the basic conceit of this stuff, that there's a great majority of people crying out for representation in just this way?

I often despair at the British public, but occasionally something happens to remind me that actually, the majority of them aren't complete shits. The absolute bin fire that is GB news, and the fact it has managed to tail off from a start that can be generously described as akin to walking into a new job, immediately shitting yourself, and then trying to blame the smell on your new manager, is heartening. They didn't fall for it, they didn't want a UK version of Fox News, and there wasn't a silent majority desperate for a "news" channel that featured so much wall-to-wall gammon it was like watching a pig's colonoscopy.

Yeah, and it might get a few talking heads and Apprentice candidates considering that they're not being invited onto news discussion programmes because of their insight, but because they're available. They don't offer any insight, any insider knowledge, any expertise - they're literally there for the host to have someone to talk to. If the only available sleb was Bum Flare Man, they'd book him.

Also, as a few people have pointed out, and as anyone who has sat through a home video can tell you, making good filmed content is harder than it looks.

It's as if at least 50% of their initial viewers were people tuning in to see if it was really going to be as crap as they thought it would be. People who then stuck with it for a couple of weeks while it was still amusing them to take the piss out of it, but who have now got bored of it and have gone off to do something more entertaining, like stare at the Dulux colour chart.

And you know that when the inevitable happens, and they put the test card on, it will be because it was too woke.

It must have been a great blow to Brillo's ego, discovering he's not the great draw for the viewing public he thought he was.

I assume Johnson's still trying to sort Ofcom out, If GB News hangs on long enough, it might get a new lease of life then.

I said at the time that you only have to look at the equivalent on radio to see that it was doomed. LBC for example provides a spot of balance with Mr O'brien etc, whereas Talk Radio is, like GBeebies, a Mailite echo chamber.

And which radio station relatively thrives whilst another one is stuck somewhere in the doldrums only coming to light when JHB has found another shop she's going to boycott because of their mask stance?

Incidentally, I see Guto Hari has been reprimanded by GBeebies for taking a knee on air....

Dipped into Times Radio, I’m not their target audience but you’re made to feel welcome as a listener not told to piss off before you even tune in.
