This has frightened me more than anything else in this current bout of unpleasantness.

My favourite; "Doesn't sound like an Essex accent to me, definitely a plant."
It's in Norwich.

I think it's about time Cooper started throwing her weight around in this direction, rather than appeasing people who'll never vote Labour anyway.

Certainly: Ignore street mobs and you nurture a climate of criminality.

I'm pretty sure that one or two days of heavy rain would wash away these protests.

I suppose I should now modify my post from earlier in the day to read:
"I think it's about time Mahmood threw her weight around in this direction."

They will struggle to cope with a Muzzy, female Home Secretary. But Shabana is one of Labour’s very best.

They had no problem with Sajid Javid, but this one will really send them in to orbit - one of Them with a full-diesel terrorist name, extraordinarily well-qualified, and a woman.

One of Shabana's (yes, she is my mate) earliest tests will be addressing the banning of Palestine Action and unleashing plod on to the militant sandal/socks brigade who, like her, are not so keen on the incineration of civilian communities.
Granted, I am not your go-to scholar in all-things Islam, but I think that the Sixth Pillar would have been "don't be a cunt".

Driving through an classic ex-council estate today I saw a bloke standing outside a rundown house who was, and I'm not exaggerating, the most archetypal Reformist I've ever seen - short, dumpy, shaven-headed, toothless, bottom lip almost touching his nose. Hanging out of the top floor window was a huge Union flag. It was such a cliche I felt like looking round for a camera crew.

Thought it was tongue in cheek at first but a young woman was making the point that being online means the most attractive women in crap towns can search outside their vicinity for more promising prospects. That must add to the disappointment in life for unpleasant arrogant young men. I'm too old for that malarky but since reading this idea I did notice there's more painted roundabouts in my area then fit birds.

Someone's painted over the red cross on the mini roundabout close to where I live.

The road where the Hot Cross Roundabouts appeared locally has now gained Union flags too.
I drove through my old village the other day; absolutely none of this nonsense has occurred.

I drove across Norfolk from near Yarmouth and didn't spot any flag shagger activity in the towns I went through. Deep Tory but maybe not deeply Reform outside Yarmouth. How much of this campaign is very well financed and organised astroturfing?

Quite a bit, I would imagine. I know that every time an organiser is interviewed, racism doesn't take much scratching to surface.

Racism takes many forms in the UK and probably across most of the Christian west. Of course, there is naked hatred and, in a sense, that is easier to confront.
What is far more cancerous is this underlying understanding and ingrained belief that people of colour are, well, simply inferior. It is just the natural order of things and nothing to concern yourself with. It's how I was brought up at home, at school, on the telly, everywhere. Even "Rock Against Racism" oozed the white saviour mentality.
In truth, and to my enduring shame, so pervasive was and is this that I still have to catch my breath sometimes. (There, said it.)
I don't doubt that these flagwankers are racist, and this is not to let them off the hook, but they are also damaged and abused children who have never been forced to confront prejudice or to understand how deeply it harms them, too. Perhaps the next generation will finally be able to dilute this mental illness to such a point that it bears no significance, but seeing these Reform Schoolers, proves to me, at least, that we still have far too far to go.
