I read a book on Keynes, and can't claim I understood all of the economics. But I don't remember "never put taxes up to pay for spending" being one of the big themes. Or "Borrow a load more money when borrowing costs are already 4.5%".

Scandinavians have much lower debt to GDP than the UK. Are they social democratic?
