Catherine is still going. It's really unfair to treat government leaks and an actual Cabinet Minister saying something to a Select Committee as government policy, apparently. Though apparently the article makes clear that there isn't a formal policy announcement yet.

I read that Claudia Webbe has lost her appeal against conviction on charages of harassment - story here - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... conviction

However, her sentence has been reduced, and instead of a 12-month custodial she now has community service. That means that she will no longer be subject to an automatic recall, and it is down to her whether or not she resigns and triggers a by-election. Her previous suggests that she won't, and she will continue to be yet another Corbyn ote albatross around Starmer's neck.

The Tories might get lucky in a by election, so as shit as it for Leicester East, if it tumbles with tonnes of Labour and Lib Dem Gains on an general election night it won’t be news,

Dare I say I’m being rather selfish nowadays

The "throwing acid" claim has apparently been rejected by the appeal judge. I don't know if this means Claudia Webbe can sue a bunch of people, or whether there's some difference in civil and criminal standards.

Whatever they decide to do, people aren't "assets" like iron ore. People make active decisions to find the work that fulfils them. It makes no more sense to say they should have stayed "at home" than it does for somebody moving from Teesside to London for work.

Nah, she believes this stuff, like lots of people do. See their views on Cuba, for instance. Cubans with skills aren't allowed to travel and make best use of them, they have to stay there and do what they're given, to stick it to America.

This view would have had solid foundations in 2014 but in the context of Brexit, it makes Sarwar sound like a lightweight. Final paragraph particularly eyebrow raising.
Vladimir Putin would welcome the break-up of the United Kingdom, Anas Sarwar has suggested.

The Scottish Labour leader said it was "pretty obvious" the Russian president would be pleased with Nicola Sturgeon's renewed attempts to gain Scottish independence.

Sarwar said: "I think he would support anything which is damaging to his enemies."

Outlining some of Scottish Labour's alternatives to independence, Sarwar said that Scotland ought to be part of an international community and a global block that stands up to Putin. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/poli ... h-27392564
