This really isn't very good.

The vast majority of private sector investment has nothing at all to do with the Government. Somebody investing in a better van isn't hanging on the word of Claire Coutihno or even Rishi Sunak. And the Labour money (however much of it is spent) would one presumes unlock a certain amount of private sector investment too.

And is that figure even reliable? £29bn business investment sounds a lot. That would be something like £1,500bn a year. That would be getting on for 60% of total GDP. Perhaps the cost of living crisis is a result of people chucking their money into business investment.

Priti here, showing the understanding of sovereignty that she brought to Brexit. "Hey, Government, reduce trade barriers that other places put on our exports"

Word is that Jenrick is resigning. Apparently the bill isn't vile enough.

Man's a cunt.

Attempted? Possibly. Successful, I suspect low. The gobshite groups can make a nuisance of themselves, but don’t have the numbers. Only headbangers think Braverman is anything other than an incompetent lunatic, reflected in her absysmal performance in previous leadership votes. Public polls repeatedly show there’s nowhere near as much support for Rwanda than they make out. And winter is here. It’s cold, utility bills are still high, and due to get higher next year. People are paying them now with much higher mortgages they’re locked into for years. Getting a tiny number of people onto a plane at huge cost is increasingly about nothing more than bloody mindedness. It’s Sunak’s poll tax, and it’ll destroy them.

I like Chris Bryant's take on the Jenrick resignation. He says that he's not sure if Jenrick has resigned because the Rwanda policy is crazy or because it is not crazy enough.
