Finally, a serious blueprint for a party which will go nowhere.

If there really was any stomach for their kind of politics in this country the CPGB would have formed a government decades ago.

In fairness, there are more people under 60 than usual with this stuff.

The "transphobic landlord" has been forced off the steering committee.

From what I saw of him, he's a standard supporter of single sex spaces, and could be accommodated within the Scottish and Welsh Governments. I don't know if I missed anything, correct me if I'm wrong. Your Party are surely going to have to accommodate these views, especially if they are making a special effort at mass Muslim engagement. Not to say of course that he and other should get a veto- I'd guess that members would vote for a pro-trans rights policy.

Perhaps having him on the steering committee was a mistake.

Has he only quit the steering committee as reported by Tubby, or has he quit the party altogether? The Grauniad is reporting it as the latter

MP Adnan Hussain quits Your Party over ‘persistent infighting’

The leftwing Your Party spearheaded by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana has had a major split after another independent MP involved, Adnan Hussain, quit because of “persistent infighting and a struggle for power” in the organisation.

The departure of the Blackburn MP, who is secretary of the limited company behind Your Party, is yet another blow after renewed disagreements between Sultana and Corbyn, this time over the handover of membership levies...

...On Friday afternoon, Hussain said via X he had spent recent months reflecting on his role in an organisation he had believed would be based on “a commitment to equality, justice and anti-racism”.

He said: “Regrettably, the reality I encountered has been far from this vision. The culture surrounding the party has become dominated by persistent infighting, factional competition and a struggle for power, position and influence rather than a shared commitment to the common good.

“Instead of openness, cooperation and outward focus, the environment has too often felt toxic, exclusionary and deeply disheartening.”

Hussain condemned what he said felt like “veiled prejudice” in the way he and other Muslim independent MPs had been treated within the party, talking about “generalised accusations and offensive slurs”.

He also said he had not been prepared for the “very serious and damaging internal disputes” within Your Party over how it should be structured and organised...

Steering committee from what he says. Peter Walker (who's better than some at the paper) has been a bit unclear with his tweet.

I wonder if he's going to remain engaged though. Apart from Gaza, what does he have in common with lots of them? I noticed some of his social media and he seemed to be a fairly regular sort, listening to local employers etc. He might be better off carrying on as an independent local champion, while of course retaining his commitment to Palestine and (I expect) Kashmir.

That's the other biggy, and the Grauniad does seem to be doing rather a lot of bad faith reporting lately.

Actually BBC says he's quit the party. Pretty strong words if he's just quitting the steering committee, but I don't know.

It’s because a lot of it’s platitudes.

Last I heard from Corbyn on the subject, he said he still favoured a two state solution. As one of those states is Israel, that makes him a Zionist in the eyes of those who think Palestine should be ethnically cleansed of Jews.

Wouldn't leaving that lot because of infighting and factionalism be like leaving Reform because they're a bit racist?

I see Adnan Hussain makes that point.

The lot who've forced him out only want Muslim support because they share some (though by no means all) of their anti-American foreign policy. If they think they can do without that, this is what they do.

It appears that at least one of the causes for this latest drama is a proposed policy in support of trans-rights. To the surprise of no-one at all, followers of a religion which regards homosexuality as harem are not overly keen on trans people. I predicted this would be an issue when YourParty was first announced - I can't find the post so I'm denied a smug 'told you so' moment (maybe I posted it elsewhere?), the fact that the leadership failed to predict it tells us something.
