A business rather than a multi-millionaie weirdo buying political influence. Don't know why they believe the Telegraph is worth half a billion.

Is that good or bad? remember when the Mirror group bought the Express, we all had hopes of change but the cynicism of capitalistic ventures won out.

I'd love to know how the Express makes any money. It currently has a circulation of less than 100,000 and most of its readers are gammon. Do advertisers really pay good money to appeal to gammon readers?

Depends what they're flogging. I've not looked at a copy of The Express for nearly 30 years but the ads will be correctly targeted for the demographic, any that aren't will be quickly pulled - that's how advertising works.

Probably the same stuff they flog on daytime telly: stairlifts, comfortable slacks, and memorabilia coins.

All of which you'll see watching anything on Talking Pictures TV; that, and Dormeo mattresses.

Maybe we need a Daniel Hannan headline generator.

This stuff writes itself. Pick out some things you don't like about the government. Spin into "hates Britain". Are hereditary peers in the Lords popular outside the Telegraph? I doubt it. That must be a lot of people who hate Britain. And the Bank of England are doing the bank notes thing, not the Government.
Otherwise, that headline hangs together really well. I suppose we should be thankful he got "restrict" jury trials rights, unlike someone on a neigbourhood forum who said they were being abolished.

The likes of Hannon, Hitchens et al. all never consider the possibily that we were never that fucking good to start with.

Apparently, the Torygraph has been bought by Axel Springer, a German media group, who beat The Daily Mail to the acquisition.
Failing memory had me thinking that was the bloke who played the Beverly Hills Cop theme.

I'll just leave this here:
Has she been talking to Mark Lawrenson? He was employed by the BBC till he was 65, then complaint about "woke culture" when his contract wasn't renewed. He'd worked for them for 30 years. If everyone who'd worked there before him stayed till they were 65, let alone longer, he'd have barely got to commentate on non-league for local radio. I can only think of one person, Jimmy Hill, who did stay on (till he was 70). Given that he invented punditry, that was perhaps an understandable indulgence.

Huw Edwards is to be the subject of a Channel 5 drama, being played by Martin Clunes.
