It really is a disgrace and I feel desperately sorry for both the producers and for other cheese mongers who might have picked up extra business, should these cheeses to have won official recognition.
The report doesn't finger the customs issue but the root cause is evident. Fucking stupidity on a national scale.
More broadly, I miss English and Scots cheeses, which can no longer be had for love nor money on the mainland. Kerrygold cheddar just ain't the same.

Brexit has been a success. Labour are slowly killing it
I managed to get through the first paragraph before the pay-wall bollocks popped up. It's about as unhinged as you'd expect.

I read someone on blue sky talking about UK media targeting US clicks and this seems perfect.

As usual Carswell gets the wrong end of the stick. What Mertz is outlining is that the global free trade mercentile model Brexiters cream themselves about is reaching its limit. Germany excelled at this model over most European countries but is now a drag on the economy. The country is still a huge growing high end services economy and the future growth will come from further Single Market integration. Which was cross party British policy in the 90s. Legarde has also outlined this strategy and this is give a good outline of some of the issues.
